@admin I love Hellraiser. The first movie adapts the original novella brilliantly and the practical effects are amazing.Â
Barker released a book a few years back called The Scarlet Gospels which concluded Pinheads story. Worth a read.Â
Does it play up the demon aspect?
Why I asked (and why I became so fascinated by the first and only the first movie) is Pinhead described the cenobites as explorers, demons to some, angels to others. And that ambiguity of being neither good nor evil, and strange unexplained explorers that we just can't comprehend, really interested me. Later in sequels it felt like they were portrayed more as plain demons from hell and suddenly they became a lot less interesting to me. 🙂
* If anyone is curious and has not watched Hellraiser, here is that scene:

The story follows Pinhead, or as he called in it, the Priest, as he plans to take all power in the world.Â
I wouldn't like to say too much as it's a great read. Clive Barker is an incredible story teller. He only wrote and directed the first movie and had nothing to do with the others which is why you can see the declining quality.Â
"If you feel safe in the area you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth. And when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting."

@he-dad not sure how I feel about beetle juice 2. I hate when there’s that large of a gap between sequels
@brasco There's gotta be a good example of when this worked good right? Hocus Pocus 2?

The last movie I watched was The Mistletoe Promise with Jaime King & Luke MacFarlane. It's a Hallmark Christmas movie about a woman named Elise and a man named Nick who are both self-professed "Christmasphobes". Elise runs a travel agency with her yutz of an ex-husband Dan who is flaunting his airheaded new girlfriend Drew (who"can't even find the ladies room without a road map"). Nick is running for partner in his family law firm, which is very family-oriented. However, he has neither a family or even a girlfriend.
Nick & Elise create "The Mistletoe Promise" which means they decide to fake a relationship to annoy Elise's ex and to impress Nick's boss. Elise decides to start a new business without her ex and Nick decides to plead his case for partnership in the firm without having to necessarily have a family to do so. Initially this is merely a business agreement to survive the holidays, but they end up falling in love for real.Â

I just watched Last Holiday with Queen Latifah again, it's about a shy saleswoman in a department store who hits her head and has a medical scan. What she doesn't know is that the scan is faulty and she is led to believe she only has three weeks to live, so she quits her job, starts becoming more bold and assertive and goes on a holiday to a plush hotel in the Czech Republic. She meets all sorts of interesting people and starts to live the life she always wanted, even through she still thinks she is not long for this world. Despite the subject matter, it is a hilarious comedy, with some tender moments. 😀Â
One of the funniest scenes is when Georgia (Latifah) is being smacked around with a bush in a health spa, so she takes the bush and starts smacking around the masseuse instead.
