We watched A Christmas Carol the other night.... The 1999 Patrick Stewart version. "Make it snow."
Godzilla Minus one
Did you like it? I hope to see it this week. 🙂
Â
I did! It was very fun like the ones from the 50s, 60s, 70s
Â
I finally caught Godzilla Minus One last night. It is such a terrific film with terrific characters, even without Godzilla. This one is definitely going on my home video shelf. 🙂

The day this digital world expels all physical stores and shopping dies with the people of its time this movie will become a very curious oddity.

Ah, Jingle All the Way, remember loving it when I went to see it at the cinema when it was released, then didn't see it again till it was on television a few years ago. I was nervous about rewatching in case it didn't hold up but it's still fantastic.
Â
Last film I was watched was No Time to Die, recorded it last Christmas when it was on ITV and only just got round to it. Very enjoyable, probably my second or third favourite Daniel Craig Bond film. (Skyfall is my favourite, then not sure where Casino Royale and NTTD rank. Then it's Spectre, then Quantum of Solace.)
Â
Alamo theaters did a Die Hard showing this past weekend and we went. It was so fun seeing it in a full theater wearing a Santa hat, being served sparkling wine, and saying all my favorite lines under my breath. What a blast!

Each time I watch that movie bro I can't believe Arnold got away with punching a reindeer. I know it's fake but still 😂

That sounds like so much fun! I wish my theater served wine!

🇺🇸 SNOUT SPOUT FOR PRESIDENT 🇺🇸
Just watched the new Julia Roberts movie on Netflix. Leave the World Behind.
I was intrigued but the more the film dragged into its two and half hour runtime the more I became bored. With no pay off or resolution to the movie I can say it sucked. I had hopes at the beginning and it built tension well but it lack in explanation or conclusion ruined it for me. Just my opinion and I’m sure others will enjoy it.
Our Zoe arrives home from college for Christmas break tomorrow, so we are stacked up with waiting Christmas movies that include A Christmas Carol (we alternate versions every year) Miracle on 34th Street, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Polar Express, Christmas Vacation with an ample sampling of new Hallmark Channel Christmas movies sprinkled in. Â
Eggnog, Christmas cookies, fireplaces and oh-so-many candles are awaiting.   🙂
Glad you liked it! And I agree! going to own this one as well!
Have you seen Shin Godzilla? 🙂
Â
I have yet to see it! I hear its good!
Â
It really is! It actually even won Best Picture in Japan! And the blu-ray comes with a dubbed version with the acting so well done, you do not need to read subtitles (if you don't prefer.) 🙂

@heathershalla We did a Die Hard movie party at our Drafthouse as well and it was such a blast! Also seen Shaun of the Dead and Big Trouble in Little China movie parties there, as well as so many great 80s movies. LOVE Drafthouse!

I am in this same camp. Great cast, well shot, but it could have benefitted from some trimming. I don't mind unanswered questions and ambiguous endings, but it just kinda--ended. I get the point they were trying to make but they didn't stick the landing.
Â
EDIT: This was the last film I saw as well, although with holiday break starting tomorrow I plan to see Godzilla Minus One, The Iron Claw, Killers of the Flower Moon, as well as our traditional holiday films.

For some reason our oldest son has been after us for years to watch Die Hard during the Holidays, but I think it's too violent for the holidays. Â And anyway, what does it have to do with Christmas? Â

Regarding the violence...there isn't a ton of blood and gore. Lots of punching and shooting but as far as blood it's not anything you wouldn't see on TV shows nowadays. There is LOTS of language and a couple gratuitous 80s shots of topless women (very brief but still--they seemed to do this a LOT in the 80s). So it really depends on what you consider violence. Yes, people die and get hurt but it's not overly gory.
Â
Now for you second question...ha! That's a debate that could polarize people. I'm not a stickler for what constitutes a Christmas movie but some are adamant one way or the other. Slight spoilers--nothing you wouldn't see in a trailer or plot synopsis--but the main character ends up in this mess because he was invited to a Christmas party. There are Christmas references throughout the movie, and the climax wouldn't have happened if not for the holiday season. I just think it's a perfect 3-act, 80s action movie and use Christmas as an excuse to watch it every year! But it won't give you that Christmas Spirit feeling like Elf or It's a Wonderful Life do.
Â
I recently watched a couple of new Hallmark Christmas movies, one with lovely and talented Alicia Witt (Not Ready For Christmas) and one with incredibly gorgeous Luke MacFarlane & Nikki De Loach (Christmas Land). There were a couple of scenes with a surprise guest star in the latter film, lovely and talented Cynthia Gibb - she had starred in Gypsy (with Bette Midler) many years ago. 😀Â

So the consensus is it didn't stick the landing. I'll probably pass on this. Too bad. It has a good cast.
