Hellraiser 1987.

It wasn't as crazy gory or bad as I remembered it.

one of my absolute faves, unfortunately they got worse as they went on. To the point that the studio took scripts that got turned down and adapted them into hellraiser movies. I advise to stop after number 4

Oh and the last movie I watched is the one I’m watching currently. As tradition dictates, as it’s December 1st I start my Christmas horror-a-day movie marathon. And tonight it’s the original 70s Black Christmas.

I just rewatched Mistletoe & Menorahs with Kelly Jakle & Jake Epstein and The Mistletoe Inn with Alicia Witt & David Alpay.

Mistletoe & Menorahs is about a toy manufacturing executive (Christy) who wants to impress her new (Jewish) boss with a winning idea for a new holiday toyline who meets a Jewish schoolteacher (Jonathan) who is trying to impress his girlfriend who is a Christian. The trouble is, Christy knows nothing about Hanukkah and Jonathan knows nothing about Christmas, so they teach each other about their respective holiday traditions.

The Mistletoe Inn is about a budding writer (Kim) who is afraid to share her work for fear of criticism and rejection who meets a struggling yet established author (Zeke) at a writing workshop. He has lost his inspiration to write after his divorce, he is incognito and she doesn't know he is actually her favourite romance author.

I watch a lot of Hallmark movies, especially the Christmas ones. 😀

That's on Peacock right? There are way too many streaming services for me to afford

@he-dad yeah it was surprisingly good. Didn’t break any new ground but was an interesting take on the story and was very atmospheric. I’ve just ordered on Blu-ray

Winne the Pooh:  Blood & Honey.  It wasn't very good, but I was in the mood for a horror film and it was on Peacock.   I think they could have spent a bit more on the costumes.

@he-dad yes peacock. Stinks we can’t share Netflix anymore. My wife and her friend would share that, Hulu and paramount. In my house it doesn’t matter bc when my kids are home all that’s on is YouTube

oh and surprisingly it was pretty good

this was a fun movie, it’s budget was tiny hence the disappointing make-up. It was made in secret so it was ready to release as soon as the copyright on Winnie the Pooh came into the public domain. There is a sequel in the works that will feature tigger I believe.

I am a big fan of the first Hellraiser film as well. The content is certainly not for everybody, and it took repeat viewings for me to truly appreciate, but if one can look past the surface, it has some real interesting ideas and subtext.

The sequels didn't measure up for me though, but I reasonably enjoyed 2 & 3 (but never finished the fourth.) 🙂

@admin I love Hellraiser. The first movie adapts the original novella brilliantly and the practical effects are amazing.

Barker released a book a few years back called The Scarlet Gospels which concluded Pinheads story. Worth a read.

"If you feel safe in the area you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth. And when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting."

Last movie I watched was Santa Claus the movie 1985 with the kids last night.

Festive magic.

I think it would have worked better if they were more stuffies come to life rather than looking like dudes in Halloween masks.  I don't thinks costs would have been too insane to do it in more a Puppet Master type way.  Hopefully, with the sequel having a much higher budget, they can at least improve on things.
