Club Grayskull is back! Before today, only members of the "Masters of the Universe" community that have been active MOTU fans for a long time could say they experienced Club Grayskull. But today Mattel has announced the exciting news that Club Grayskull has returned, a digital subscription service that allows fans access to exclusive "Masters of the Universe" items, perks and content. Now old fans and new can join the club! Here is Mattel’s official announcement and details: Today, you can join the heroic warriors of Eternia as a member of Club Grayskull, the new Masters of the Universe membership…
We have the Power!
It says membership does not provide a guarantee to purchase any of these products, as purchase depends on product availability. So what am I paying for? A chance to get an exclusive figure maybe? This is bullshit.
Finally, a way for Mattel to release the already tooled Keclar figure we missed out on with the ETERNIA crowdund.

Remember when we thought Mattel turned a corner with Wun-Dar and Grizzlor?
I'm not thrilled by this "awesome offer". Not one bit. Moreover, I have a limited list of characters in which I'm interested, so the mysterious action figure is surely not on my list.
I thought it was going to be Vultak… but I’m cool with a surprise figure also lol
This seems to be their model for many of their other brands as well… I don’t know if it’s their response to slower sales on Creations or to test the market but I am more than ok with made to order exclusives for members only - might breathe some much needed frenzy back into the brand… def signing up!
They said some figures and items would be made to order and members are guaranteed the opportunity to purchase those within a window of time - so that’s not altogether horrible… what we are not necessarily guaranteed is early access if we don’t hustle lol but early access is like an early shot at getting something that’s going to be released again - whereas a guarantee of made to order for members only is pretty darn special imo..
Maybe with this new iteration of 'Club Eternia' I'll get a chance at a Masks of Demons 2-pack for the New Eternia Masterverse line. But I have a feeling it'll mainly be Origins related stuff.
WANTED IN MASTERVERSE:
Masks of Power Demons, Prince Dakon, Kobolds, Demons (The Terror of Tri-Klops!), Lodar, New Eternia Ninjor, New Eternia Dragon Blaster Skeletor, Lizorr, Hoove, '87 Movie Man-At-Arms, '87 Movie Skeletor Trooper.
With Mattel, things are always a gamble...
However, I figure that $0.83 a month is worth it just to see what is coming down the line.
I really wish that the company had more faith in the brand and didn't need to resort to gimmicks like a membership... but, this is the world we live in. Mattel execs make questionable decisions that essentially kill the retail side of Origins, and now use a sub model to lure in the old-guard to keep the line going.
Oh well, I'm down for whatever this experiment yields.
>>>The Power of the Good and the Way of the Magic!<<<
I'm excited about this "Club"! I'm pretty much a completionist when it comes to MOTU & POP, so if this helps me avoid potential quick sellouts and gets me some exclusive figures/goodies, I'm all for it.
As someone who purchased everything, I was all for the sub model in Classics and this is even better because people aren't going to be forced into buying things they don't want, other than a yearly charge that is literally less than 84 cents a month.
I can understand people who are cherry picking the line not being too pleased but if there's an exclusive figure that they want, paying $9.99 for a yearly membership is much less than what they'll pay getting it on the secondary market.
why would a yearly 10 bucks be the KEY to getting deep cuts? I could see monthly fee doing that, but yearly? No, there’s something else behind this and it stinks.
This is mattel making money off the scammers who will buy multiple memberships, and multiple figures at a time from each account, because these are now behind a paywall and EXCLUSIVE!!!! So its screws us, multiple ways. Fee, and they are already WARNING that not enough might go around for the members.
Like I mentioned in other thread, go read about the monster high membership. Its not pretty.
I'm down to buying a figure or two a year from Mattel Creations, so I doubt I will join. I'll be annoyed if they release Origins 80s figures this way since those are almost done.
It is less than $10 for the entire year. I do not really collect Origins or Masterverse, but I subscribed anyway.
Yeah, it's only US $10, I'll give it a shot.

It will depend on whether customers have a limited window to subscribe or not. Otherwise, I'll just wait until the subscription has its first related offers before I make a decision.
