@dan1980 prehaps hun, using adora/she-ra IN PRINT has never been an issue for mattel. she-ra, catra, shadow weaver, the princess rebellion et al have all been prominently featured in the DC comics canon.
Though remember even there they had to have an agreement with the rights-holder, mentioned in the small legal print.
it reminds me of the old 200x comics from MV Creations, those were canon to the cartoon and featured characters that didn't appear in the show - like scare-glow, so scare-glow exsist in the 200x canon even if he didn't appear in the show.
A fun example, though a bit of an anomaly. Because Scare Glow got kinda snuck in just as the legal teams at Mattel were switching from one group to another. Not in any nefarious way.
But as a crude exaggerated example, had that comic been scheduled to come out 4 months later, Scare Glow would most likely not have existed in the comic. 😲
No one mentioned how awesome it was to see Rokkon yet? Quick question tho. Was Rokkon from a different planet other than Eternia? It looked that way to me.
The Rock People have atleast 5 slightly altering Origin stories in vintage minicomics, cartoon, magazines, etc.
But they usually arrive to Eternia (or Etheria) from a different planet.
If we go by Filmation lore, that planet is Geolon. 😀
My daughter (14) and I watched all five episodes in a row and we thoroughly enjoyed it ! She gave it 12/10. 😀
I would love to have seen more of the Skeletor henchman but a minor issue. Will watch again. I found Revelation better the second time around so hope to have the same feeling with Revolution.
Hope to see a third series.
I plan to re-watch with my kids. I watched it by myself initially. I think it is funny that Andra is a big reason why the people all got infected and now she is running for leader. I'd stick with her being an army commander.
Finally got to watch it lastnight with my son. We loved it! Plan on watching it again already. Can't wait to see what new masterverse figures we get from this.

Well my best bet is that anything related to Princes of Power brand such as Catra, Scorpia, Shadow Weaver & She-Ra is a no go without DreamWorks/Universal saying yes. (at the very least on screen)
Anyhow when it comes to Adora/Despara, I think the reason Adam made Eternos a democracy is to please the rights holders to avoid the princess part for princess Adora?
Masterverse wishlist:
Catra 2018 (season 4)
He-Man 2002 (Snake Armor)
King Hissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss 2002
She-Ra 2018 (season 5)
Skeletor 2002
I don't think whether she is a princess or not is a big deal on the rights issue. It did look like in a flashback that Hordak may have been stealing a baby, but they didn't show it clearly. I think if they did negotiate any rights with DreamWorks, it was probably just for Adora/She-Ra and not the other characters. They didn't really need any rights for this part, but will in the future if they want to go with Adora.
It very likely matters because Mattel told DreamWorks they were not allowed to use Castle Grayskull or planet Eternia, so the Princess part of Princess of Power and Princesses of Power does most likely indeed matter.I don't think whether she is a princess or not is a big deal on the rights issue. Griffin Newman said Adora is what they hope to go for and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙀
@zodac yeah Lyn's arc in both series has been fantastic IMO. Love that she is part of the Cosmic Enforcers and it was so cool to see Zodak!
I was not a fan of Revelation but this story was such a big improvement and they fixed a lot of what went wrong with Revelation especially Evil-Lyn. So excited to see the figures that will come out of this season.
Havik Teela
Snake Teela
Good-Lyn
Cosmic Enforcer Lyn?
Triple Sorceress Teela
Man-At-Arms Andra
Man-Of-War Duncan
I have a question though if the three aspects of the sorceress are the snake, falcon and the ram, why did Evil-Lyn turn into a bat sorceress in Revelation? In the comics it was snake, falcon and bat so it made sense.
Because there is a fourth. Teela even mentions it at Darksmoke.
So, they completely canned the prequel comic?
Watched it & liked it better then the first even though it feels a bit rushed; streched by an episode or two more might have been good for its pacing. I'm really not sure what to think of the Adora kidnapping & Despara scene in an era where ppl still seem to think its a good idea to subvert any expectation. I'm less exited to see how that get resolved than I am terrified how they f that up. But Revolution did felt like they want to do the MOTU lore justice so I'm at least somewhat hopeful. 🙂
Edit: As something that really stood out: How many of you laughed at techno Castle Grayskull for all the wrong and improper reasons because of how bad it looked? 😛
@eternianbunny I can't wait either! I want She-ra to make an appearance in the next season.
Okay my opinion maybe be controversial but I want to say this. I personally thought the last She-ra series did a great job of adding new Lore to the She-ra mythos and adding more life and design to the characters in the series. I cringed at the finale with the Catra and Adora becoming lovers as it felt so forced considering how they acted like sisters through the whole series until the last season. As well just completely negating the history and romance between Adora and SeaHawk also bothered me. But outside of that nitpick, I did love She-ra's outfit in the final season though. I was never a fan of the whole mini skirt look in the 80's even as a 80's kid. (Maybe its because I come from a more conservative background or after having a daughter of my own, IDK.) I think if they can take the style from the final season Dreamworks series but make it their own. I think it will bring in a lot of fans from that series as well reconnecting the two franchises again would be a dream come true again.
My best bet if we are lucky we will get Adora as Despara, even if she turns good and gets the power of gray skull do not expect She-Ra. I am under the impression that Adam making it a democracy was part of a checklist DreamWorks/Universal handed them to not violate their copy right, no more princess Adora is very likely one of them...So, they completely canned the prequel comic?

She-Ra was suppose to be closer to the 80s one like many has complained about but I would like to remind everyone why the lore was changed, on Mattels checklist for stuff DreamWorks was not allowed to use 2 of the ones that was mentioned on a live stream by people working on She-Ra 2018 was the following "Castle Grayskull" & "planet Eternia" and that was just 2! As we can all guess that probably means DreamWorks and Universal fired back against them, my first bet is "no female Horde members" & "no princesses" as my other replies have stated thus far... (latter 2 are guesses but it makes sense)@eternianbunny I can't wait either! I want She-ra to make an appearance in the next season.

@skeledog It was a little more petty than that, Neon said he caught a glimpse of one scene with Andra and stopped there and then. Yeah, he stopped at the diverse character.
The four towers - I'm afraid that went over my head, I didn't understand the significance. Is it something set up for a potential 3rd series? Something from a comic I haven't read? Thanks.
@stillyoungatheart as far as I’m aware this is the first mention of four towers. It’s always been just the three.
@adam_prince-of-eternia This very thing. How folks can't see it after watching these folks for any short amount of time is beyond me. The minute I see the usual 20-25 suspects on YouTube I can quote what will be said without watching them and be 95 percent accurate. My guess is they will all converge on "the Andra thing" for their new rage grift battlecry since the overall show covered a lot, had to condense a lot of stories from the comics, and pay homage to the 80s show, and with 5 episodes did it quite well.
Finally got to watch it lastnight with my son. We loved it! Plan on watching it again already. Can't wait to see what new masterverse figures we get from this.
I'm quite curious about Teela figure in the "Serpent goddess" version, very similar to the '80s character. Maybe. Or maybe not. I haven't watched the show yet, I only had a glimpse of her new look around the internet.
I haven't watched the show, but I'm fairly curious about it. Certainly Midnight's Edge is already on the fence of bashing it, but this time I heard that there's much more He-man this time. I hope it wiill be ok!
Midnight's Edge and Mr. H went down the rage-bait rabbithole a long time ago. There is more engagement, and thus more revenue, from being outrage merchants.
I followed M.E. because of their extremely interesting videos about the rise and fall of the MOTU universe, the retrospective about Conan the Barbarian, and in general for their open critique to Kathleen Kennedy and the Star Wars sequel trilogy, that was imho a real disaster. BUT, lately they have shown maybe too much hate towards everything. The are too much prone to bash in advance the new shows. And I'm speaking as a "mildly conservative" and at the same time "mildy progressist" type of person.

They already made the producers behind Revelation the enemy. They don't have the strength of character to reverse course when those enemies do something right.
