With the influx of fans, both new and old, thanks to MOTU's return to retail, MOTUC may as well have never happened. Don't get me wrong though I'm glad it did, but it to MOUT what "G 1.5" is to Transformers.

G 1.5 is a fan name for the figures that came out only in Europe during the late 80's and early 90's.

Now Webstor is rumoured to be coming in the CC. I have mixed feelings - on one hand it's nice to finally get a character who's never gotten a Filmation figure before, but on the other hand animated Webstor is very similar looking to his vintage toy apart from a bit of a more cartoony face. The design difference is a bit too subtle for me to get particularly excited. Still, I'm happy to see them enter uncharted territory because so far they've simply tread previously covered ground. I really, REALLY hope to see some deep cuts during the big March reveals, because after everything that's been released and rumoured so far, there's only going to be a handful of main characters left: Ram Man, Buzz Off, Mekaneck, Roboto, Sorceress, Orko, Moss Man, Sy-Klone, Zodac, Whiplash, Two Bad, Kobra Khan and Chopper (Jitsu). They seriously need to start mining the vast depth of memorable one-off characters.

@Durendal You are of course speaking from the perspective of a more-or-less hardcore MOTU collector. Realistically, that's not where the money is. I am sure Mattel is very closely monitoring which figures/characters sell and which don't and for that reason decided to shelf the Origins "Vintage" line and just do another round with the same characters but Filmation style. Those obscure characters just don't sell well enough (I am assuming). Actually, if memory serves, they even said something to that effect regarding the end of the OG MOTU line (i.e. that it just naturally tapered off as interest dropped with each new character release). 

That said, I am actually positively surprised how much not-so-obvious stuff they have brough us already (even if not all of it was "for me"). Like the Snakemen variants, the RotS characters, several "specials" on Mattel creations. I don't think it would be fair to say that Mattel isn't doing anything for the more "initiated" among us. Still, that's probably not where the "money" is for them. 

@lasastard I will just point out that when they released Kol-Darr, a totally obscure one-off Filmation character who never had any serious fan demand behind him, he sold out very quickly...

@durendal selling out quickly means almost nothing if we don't know how many were made.

Uncharted territory is a always good news to me bro even if the Webstors look similar. They still look different enough. Doesn't the filmation Webstor have eyeballs?

@he-dad I think what's more interesting about Filmation Webstor is he seems to have an over the shoulder grappling launcher.

Im for all these cartoon figures. I didnt last very long in the classic line. Was into it at first, but the power combo of stupidity of mattel and digital river was not worth the hassle.  So this new cartoon line, they can bring them all.

So there is a post on tiktok from a toy convention that confirms The Eterinos Palace, Queen Marleena,Female Eternian guards. And multiple family members of Orko. All in origins.

I don't think Stinkor was ever in the old cartoon. Am I wrong?

@asterstar That's my point though - how would you guys feel about characters like Stinkor in Filmation style figure form even though they never appeared in the show? I think doing stuff like that would be really interesting.
