I'm not terribly excited for these especially I'd much rather get obscure MOTU characters that are dying to get figures, but who am I kidding? I'll buy these

I like that you can make the regular thundercats, but if they are not packaged like that its a no sale from me being carded collector.

@banthafett I hadn't thought about the packaging. They'll no doubt show that the have swappable parts on the back, but I fee like they should also showcase that on the front too. Maybe they'll be in ToG deluxe style boxes with artwork on the sides show the two different looks.

Anyone else noticed that the Skeletor headsculpt for the Mumm-Ra figure not only looks weird as shit but also a lot like New Adventures Skeletor?

I'm also assuming the photos for this line aren't up to date with Lion-O having three dots on his head and him and Cheetara having all that yellow going on (the pigment in yellow makes for godawful paint. See Origins Manny).

@sketchyskeletor the images Mattel sends out with white backgrounds are usually renders not actual photos. As seen with CC Buzz-Off they can and do change one we see final product shots, on black backgrounds. 

So far i like what I see but will hold off judgment until I see in hand photos or video.

It's so bloody stupid, I would have preordered the entire line if they'd just put out actual photos. For me, if that yellow on Lion-O and Cheetara is standard there's just no point in me investing - it looks awful. And if it isn't, well, folks are gonna wonder why the product looks different to what they preordered!

I know large companies do this all the time but ffs, even KO and 3P companies have the sense not to!

@sketchyskeletor pre-orders aren't even open yet? Mattel might be showing off final or near final figures in March. Just be patient and hold off judgment until we see some in hand pictures.

They are in the UK and with the current pictures, and in the UK it's best to order early because you often only get one shot. Most etailers don't carry the line or only order the bare minimum. 

Interesting... the legs and upper arms are new sculpts. (And they look kinda like ape arms... very long.)

I wonder how this will jive with the swappability..?

I'm not too keen on that Mumm-Ra, however the Cheetara looks great. With that armor removed and her normal boots put on, she will be the closest to an old-school TCat out of any of these.

Either way, the best part of this whole wave is the fact that you can swap armor to make the ThunderCats look like their classic selves.

....I wonder if this is the whole first wave - or if there is another MOTU character waiting in the wings.

I think Mattel is going for the ThunderCats x MOTU comic crossover look from 2016...

I'm really interested in how the actual MOTU characters will look in this thinner build... Seeing as how Battle Cat has the new buck, I wonder if the upcoming He-Man, Man-At-Arms, Trap-Jaw, etc. will also use it... and, how they will look with lankier body-types..?

As for the villains... I really hope that Mattel goes with MOTU deepcuts for this crossover. I would love to see the likes of Batros, Dragoon, Evil-Seed, Jitsu, Fangor, Icer, and Strong Arm (a good match for Hammerhand)!

I know a lot of folks aren't keen on this line just yet but I, for one, am very excited for this crossover for several reasons:

1. It's an official crossover between two 80s giants that we (I) have clamored for since childhood.
2. It introduces the ThunderCats to an entirely new (younger) audience at reasonable prices.
3. The figures are compatible with Origins, have customizable armor options, and can even stand on their own as a separate toyline.
4. This crossover validates the MOTU x TC book that was released in 2016 by DC.
5. A crossover like this can bring about more media like a new book, video games, animated projects, mini comics, etc.
6. This specific crossover inadvertently links the three worlds of MOTU, TMNT and TC!!

I am looking forward to seeing what this line ends up looking like in the end. I'm pretty much down for it as it's a child's dream come true.. I just hope my wallet can handle it.

How often did my friends and I debate the merits of MOTU and ThunderCats? How many times did the LJN figures accompany my lot of MOTU figures when I went to a friend's house or the park?

Although there has been quite an onslaught of new TC merch in recent years, it is really cool knowing that Mattel is legitimizing the existance of these other worlds in their MOTUology.... even if it's just an "alternate" dimension type thing.

P.S. Is this thread going to be stickied soon? Or should we wait for the first few figures to drop?
