When I opened my Mondo Skeletor the cloth hood “tip” (that’s stitched down and to the back) was stitched SUPER crooked. It also seemed to interfere with some of the posing of the hood. So it snipped the stitch. I was pushing the interior out to try and get more volume at the base. I noticed something felt off. So I turned it inside out. The stitching was totally torn at the seam. Straight from the factory! (See Pic1)

I repaired the seam and wrote Mondo. They were cool and sent me a fresh hood. I turned it inside out to make sure everything looked good…Lo and behold the replacement was torn too! (See Pic2).

I got curious and asked my buddy to look at his. He turned his inside…and his was torn as well. (See Pic3)

I suspect that every single cloth hood included with Deluxe Skeletor is torn. Y’all check. Turn your hoods inside out and push out the seam until you can see the stitching. I told Mondo about all this. They asked me one question,”So do you need another hood or do you want to return the figure for a refund?”. Brilliant guys. Brilliant.

I was waiting to see how all of this shook out before I posted about it.

I'm not sure what else you're expecting them to do? They offered to send another replacement hood or take the figure back with a full refund. There's not much else they can do other than look to improve QC issues on future releases. My cloth hood came with a slight issue as well. The wire around the face was sticking out a bit. I took a pair of wire cutters and got it sorted out. I understand the premise of "at this price point there shouldn't be QC issues" but I feel like anyone posting on these forums should know by now that, that isn't really possible. Someone is always going to have QC issues with their figure. Even the odd Tweeterhead statue has a QC issue here or there and those things are significantly more expensive than Mondo's line.

Regarding your comment about Orko sales (I don't know how to double quote so forgive me). I was watching the Mondo Toy Talk about Orko which was streamed during the evening on the day he went up for sale and Peter said that Orko was "doing astronomically well" in terms of sales. I doubt we're ever going to get any hard numbers out of Mondo, but by every metric the 1/6 MOTU line seems to have found an audience and is performing really well which is amazing news.

Orko did astronomically well? I would have never expected that. The cuteness factor could be hitting an untapped market. Orko could be some collectors first and only Mondo purchase.

Beastman came today. And once again  issues.

On newer look head, right eye pointing down, left eye pointing up, so hes a googly eyed freak.

On other newer look head that mouth is more open, on left eye pupil is painted on side so he looks like a fish. Then to top it off, I wouldn’t even be able to use this head. The peg hole is has a giant nub of plastic that takes up half the hole, and the hole is misshaped like an egg.

Armor arm bands are way way to big, the just slide right off his arms.

You actually have the worst luck with these figures. I would definitely email Mondo to see if you can get some new heads.

I expected him to do pretty well myself. There hasn't been a more detailed Orko figure released and if someone is "in" on the line I can't see how they'd miss out on Orko. There are a lot of MOTU fans out there that aren't retail collectors or have the extra money to spend on the more expensive MOTU products. Consider this: a fair amount of people bought multiple He-Man's and Skeletor's so they could display all the armour permutations at once. Anyone who has the funds to do that wouldn't be deterred by Orko's price point.

I'm also thinking it's like a cuteness Baby Yoda thing. There's people who like Star Wars but don't collect Star Wars yet they still bought a Baby Yoda. Orko is MOTU's Baby Yoda.

@smokinya I wasn't "expecting" them to do much. Other than maybe take the issue to their their team and say something like,"Damn, Uh yeah that's kind of troubling that a very expensive COLLECTIBLE figure would arrive with an EXCLUSIVE accessory damaged beyond unnoticeable repair and more than likely is a widespread issue"

I was relating a customer experience in case anyone else had to deal with it. Mondo's QC is tragic. Every figure I buy from Mondo seems to have SOMETHING wrong with it. They have without a doubt more QC issues per release than any other company from which I buy high end collectibles. Have you turned your hood inside out to inspect the seam? You may not care. I do.

Look...you and I obviously have different opinions on what to tolerate from companies that we give 250 bones to. No big deal. You do you. Hey! Maybe see if Mondo Quality Control is hiring!

As far as Orko's sales? Who knows. "Astronomically well" is rather hyperbolic. What would you expect them to say? "It's selling ok."?

Your hood can be repaired fairly easily. All you need is a sewing needle, some thread and a bit of finesse. I'm not saying you have no right to be upset about the hood. Like I said mine also came with a slight issue with the wire that I had to fix. Something to consider though is the hood isn't going to magically come apart. These aren't toys. They sit on your shelf and you change their poses at your leisure. It shouldn't affect the hood and how it sits on Skeletor's head. You're never going to see it.

But like I said you have a right to be upset, you have a right to voice your concerns and you can vote with your wallet. Other than the He-Man torso issue and the wire being too long on Skeletor's cloth hood and sticking out a bit (easy fix) I haven't had any other issues with my figures. Until I have some major issues I will continue to support the line.

Regarding Orko, it wasn't a question asked during the Toy Talk. It was just free information offered up by the guys. They didn't have to mention anything about sales in the first place. I imagine if he wasn't selling well they wouldn't have said anything at all.

Seems like this was a stealth release. Mondo hasn't even put anything on their socials. I only saw this because Raul posted his official pics of it on IG. Funny that we're getting another variant from Mondo and Tweeterhead is also doing a variant of their Trap Jaw statue too. I won't be picking the Mondo variant up, it is super cool, but I like the OG Trap Jaw color schemes and with Nytemare, Deluxe Scareglow and possibly Evil-Lyn still to come this year I need to keep the shelf lean.

Here I am with a triple post, but I watched the Mondo Toy Talk on Teela yesterday and they had some good information in there regarding the future of the line:

  • Looking like there is another 6-7 releases for the 1/6th MOTU line slated for this year
  • Deluxe Scareglow, Scaremare (new name for Nytemare, wing span is nearly 2 feet), Skysled (Hector mentioned its huge and has a lot of cool accessories), Evil-Lyn (end of the year) and then another 2-3 unannounced figures (one of them is confirmed to be male)
  • They discussed the possibility of re-doing Man-At-Arms and Mer-Man as deluxe figures and were gauging the chat to see if that was something they'd be interested in
  • Man-At-Arms seemed like he'd have a higher chance of getting a Deluxe reissue over Mer-Man based on what Hector and Peter said. Hector seemed fairly adamant that Mer-Man still holds up well with the design and style of the more recent figures (starting with She-Ra and Hordak), but MAA didn't get as much praise from them. Plus Peter doesn't have a MAA figure and he really wants one
  • Faker was also mentioned by the chat and Hector said something along the lines of needing to redo Faker with a Delxue treatment like they did for He-Man and Skeletor
  • Some new reveals will be coming at C2E2 this weekend (Apr 26-28) and Peter will be there on a panel. Safe to assume not all of the reveals will be for MOTU. They also mentioned having some cool reveals for SDCC (indicated that Scaremare and others would be there with paint masters)
  • They seemed to indicate/imply that the Deluxe He-Man and Skeletor reignited interest in the line in a big way (though this might just be how I interpreted what they said)
  • Purely speculation on my part: I'm guessing that one of the other figures slated for this year is going to be the Sorceress and the male figure might be Clawful or Whiplash. I know Peter really, really wants Clawful and Whiplash, but he mentioned before needing to see how Beastman sold first so they might be further down the line. If not Beastman I'm thinking it'll be Tri-Klops, Man-E-Faces or Kobra Khan. It seems like they have a lot of figures in the production pipeline though based on what they said. Peter said he wasn't even sure how many they have in planning stages so far for the line

Overall, it was a pretty good video to watch. I'll be interested to see if they have something unique as the SDCC exclusive or if that will end up being the Flocked Panthor as an in-person and digital release. They never stated if this version of Panthor would be considered as part of the remaining figures launching this year and no one asked either. Exciting things for the future of the line and I'm happy that its doing really well.

As a side note Mondo also posted on IG that tomorrow at 10am CT they're going to be doing a sale on any figures and vinyl they have that were kept as extra and/or safety stock. So if you've missed out on a release and don't want to pay eBay prices make sure you hit their store. Personally, I regret not scooping up a Prince Adam figure so if he goes up for sale I'll probably snag one.

If those numbers are true, they are gonna bombard us with po’s. Not a fan of that.

The new name for the horse is stupid, Im not getting it anyways because  its a new made up thing.

Enough with MAA, im so sick of seeing the lame old guy having multiple releases in every line. I hide him in the back of all the lines.

Im all for a new Faker, I have the vintage head on him now, since the first heman sculpt is awful. Give me an orange see through battle armor like Anti HM has.

They've waited so long on flocked panthor, that i dont even care anymore. And other than the size of the cats, they really are not that impressive, with how floppy they both are. So the flocking wouldn’t hold up.

I'll take vintage, filmation, 200x versions of Evil-lyn

I dont understand wanting to redo mer-man, hes awesome. The only turds in the line are the 1st heman and skeletor and faker. (And maa is just a turd in general)And theyve already fixed 2 of those.

All the others you mentioned, TK, MEF, Whip, KK, Clawful are my main wants after Evil lyn.

Do you have the cats? I do. Mine aren't floppy at all. "Not that impressive" is the last term I'd use to describe them. In ANY context. EVER.

I never wanted the Trap-Jaw figure until Mondo did this mini-comic variant. Totally caved and got him. While I like the idea of the design elements that Florian introduced, I felt like something about the leg armor and other bits made him look kinda stumpy (I feel similarly towards Beast Man, like he has so much armor and bulk that it looks off to me somehow. Too much going on, visually?). This Trap-Jaw looks lean and mean and the colors really are up my alley. I'm not a completionist with this line, so I'm actually glad that they're taking another crack at some of these characters, giving people multiple options if the first iteration isn't what they were looking for. Fingers crossed for a blue vest Adam at some point?

agree , really love the green trap. I dont mind the 1st one, but rather have the filmation one that i missed out on, and ordered the green one.

and also agree about how some of the looks are looking “busy”. I had 3 complaints of 200x.

1. Hunched over

2. over sized weaopns

3. to much going on look wise.

modo hits #3 and sometimes #2

just imagine how complicated tri klops, clawful will end up looking. I was  always cool with mr klops just having the spinning thing on his head, i dont need wires, bolts, and other nonsense. Over detail and over articulation have killed alot of stuff lately.
