Man e looks great, but if they put all the stuff with him that they showed in the “drawing” stage, thats just too much crap to be paying for and never using.

Mondo would rule if they made a legit stripped down version with one head and one weapon affordable to everyone.

I like the extra faces but, If an extra face cradle (yeah I don’t know what to call that) is included that seems unnecessary. HUGE fan of the pre-face-spinner-operation head and plug. I like when they expand the lore. Especially on a character like Manny. And it’s something I would actually use.

I don’t think we’re ever going to get these figures any cheaper even if they chopped accessories. 100% unique sculpt results in 100% new tooling. Add in the multiple paint hits and that equates to a more expensive product.

Agreed. The best that we can hope for is that the prices stay consistent at this point (which I'd argue they have been). The 200x line will be a bit cheaper so that's a nice price point for folks that want to get involved with that (nicer for my wallet too since my costs will be going up). But on top of everything you mentioned production runs and licensing from Mattel need to be considered as well.

I know a lot of folks compare the Mondo prices to those of Hot Toys, but I don't think that's a good comparison. Hot Toys produces Marvel, Star Wars, etc. and the fan bases for those products are leaps are bounds bigger than those of MOTU. Its the same reason why the MOTU Tweeterhead maquettes only have runs of a few hundred VS the few thousand that their DC stuff gets. Mondo is probably over charging a bit for their products, but I don't think they're overcharging by over a $100.

@smokinya Apparently, they've somehow reworked their approach to bundles, which should now include a hero and a villain (He-Man comes with Clawful as the first wave). Hopefully they will find a way to offer these characters individually as well. After all, some other companies already do. Having planned to cherry pick on this line regardless of the high appeal that seems to fuel this brand, I don't want to feel stuck in any way. Having said that, their sales model makes me hopeful in a sense that this cautious impulse could very well pave the way for more obscure references that could be more difficult to sell individually (Marzo, Ceratus, Carnivus, Prahvus, Kulatak, etc.).

@onlyoneskeletor Okay that is news to me. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hear that from? Is the intention to still release 6 figures this year? Regarding the bundles I was also under the impression that the figures would be sold individually as well, but they'll also be coming out as a bundled option? For RGB I think that the bundles ended up being cheaper than buying the figures individually?

Its funny that you bring up Marzo and the others. Personally, I'd much rather have all the main cast characters released with their 200x designs and proper articulation over getting some of the more obscure, 200x only characters. Marzo would be an exception to that though, he's pretty rad. Evil Seed too.  Getting the Snake Men and Evil Horde 200x designs in full articulated figures would be an absolute dream.

@smokinya Oh ... I ignored the fact that RGBs were also available as single figures? I remember focusing exclusively on Samhain, but the manufacturer didn't seem to be selling him as a single item at the time. Did I not pay attention to that? Anyway, here is the link to the recent panel hosted by Mondo (Wondercon), they start talking about the 1/12 Motu figures at 29:58 minutes. Enjoy it ! PS: The Motuc Marzo is screaming for a bit of a breeze, technically speaking (lol). WonderCon 2025 Mondo Panel - YouTube

@onlyoneskeletor I just checked Mondo's website and it seems like it wasn't a bundle. But there was a "Collector's Edition" that came with the larger ghosts and cheaper versions that only come with the figure plus the smaller accessories. Almost like the Deluxe releases for 1/6 MOTU other than the fact that the price difference between the regular and Collectors Edition of the RGB figures is actually really substantial 🤣

Thanks for the panel link, I wasn't able to find anything over the weekend. Going to give it a watch now.

EDIT: Not a single MOTU question asked. I need to get down to a Con and grill these guys lol. A couple interesting things that I picked up on:

  • When speaking about the 1/12 line they mentioned supporting it with lots of other characters (hard to say what lots means but hopefully it is actually a lot). But its nice that they're confident enough in the line to start it off with a tertiary villain to be paired with He-Man instead of a "heavy" hitter and already have 4 characters being released right off the hop before sales data comes in
  • The comment on Clawful was also interesting "We love Clawful, we've been wanting to do him for a long time and doing it in this scale seemed the most responsible for now even though we just announced we're doing a giant horse". Not sure how I feel about this comment. It honestly might mean nothing at all, but it does seem to indicate that these larger characters like Whiplash and Clawful are harder to get permission to make since they might not sell as well. Lets be honest a lot of the fan base isn't as attached to Clawful as they are Beast Man. That being said I didn't think Scaremare or AE Battle-Cat would do well either, but AE Battle-Cat sold out in less than an hour and Scaremare sales seems to be pretty good. It might come down to only being able to do one larger figure per year and they figured that reusing the Scaremare sculpt was the better way to go (and also something I predicted too). I just really hope we can start getting into some other cool characters like Tri-Klops and Stinkor and Meka-Neck now that we're through most of the original characters.

@smokinya You know, I thought I could be more brave in my own ability to resist the call of temptation, but after seeing this He-Man prototype, I've pretty much thrown in the towel. Same with these incredible designs shown at the panel, except maybe for Skeletor who seems a bit too bulky to me, I was expecting a more emaciated sculpt. But again, I'm really worried about my ability to be as selective as I had planned; some accessories appear very well thought out, like the diorama pieces for each of them. Finally, and as we say in France: "Aïe, aïe, aïe ...!"

@onlyoneskeletor Thank you for posting this! Good panel... lots of stuff coming down the pipeline.

I suppose I'm fortunate to not like MYP MOTU... this will save me a bundle of money on the 1/12 line.

I am a huge ThunderCats fan but, again, the Mondo design team completely missed the mark on Lion-O, so money saved again on the upcoming Mumm-Ra and Cheetara.

However, I'm a pretty big Superman fan, so I'm intrigued to see what they have planned for that line!
