@onlyoneskeletor Mondo is going to price us out again with their 200X line. $80-100 is just too much for a 6 inch.

Depends entirely on why you're collecting. Many of the Masterverse figures have had poor sculpting and flat paint jobs, I'd argue many are a waste of money, especially if you have a solid Classic's collection. If you look at the price of all the Masterverse figures, for the cost of getting all of them in a year you could easily scoop most of the 200x Mondo figures. Which from a sculpting and painting standpoint will be infinitely better looking.

If you're in with Mondo, you definitely need to taper the rest of your collecting down to a minimum unless your pockets and space are very deep. But since I made the decision I've been extremely happy with what they've been producing. I often find myself staring at my 1/6 scale Skeletor in complete awe. Its everything I imagined growing up. That's how I feel about most of the characters. Its worth the price if you can afford it and IMO its certainly worth stopping with Masterverse to collect Mondo instead. I wish it wasn't the case because I wanted Masterverse to blow me away like Classics did all those years ago, but it never happened (barring Snout Spout and a few others).

@smokinya It is indeed a question of how each collector approaches this collection (as a whole), why? Because I had the chance to get on board fourteen years ago, when Motuc Classics was still young and its average price was quite digestible. Since then, the concept has obsessed me; I mean, expanding my Eternian world as much as possible is an incomparable thrill, the quest of a lifetime. Unfortunately, because the industry is so fickle, this dream has been thrown back in the closet many times. So Lately, the strategy is to expand this quest in cherry picking within the current brands (Masterverse, Origins) and yes, despite the questionable price that was announced during the last SDCC, I'll keep an eye on the new 1/12 Motu line at Mondo to keep feeding this logic, if indeed they give me reasons to do so (lol). Potential candidates in my mind right now could be the Snake Men (their designs via the MYP cartoon fascinate me!), Marzo, The Faceless One, Queen Andreeno, Shadow Beast (as it is quite different from the Motuc figure), Evil-Lyn (again, the Motuc version, though nicely repainted, was not enough), King Randor, Odiphus, Battle Armor Queen Marlena, the ABC Giants ... There are so many references they could dive into, just to diversify this upcoming toy line a bit.

I grew up with the 200x line so the designs from the show are what "my" Masters are supposed to look like. To say I'm hyped for the 1/12th line would be the biggest understatement of the year. My main draw to the 1/6th scale line was the fact that the figures took the best bits of the vintage designs, but they still had a heavy 200x influence mixed in with some unique ideas from Mondo. Obviously, it helps that Emiliano works with Mondo on the designs (he's basically the god-father of the 200x artstyle) as well. The latest Buzz-Off is the cherry on top of the already stellar collection.

It also sounds like you're going to be in luck with the 200x line. According to Hector and Peter the 1/12th line will be releasing 6 figures this year, Wave 1 is going to be He-Man and two villains. One villain is going to be a "deep-cut" while the other will be more popular. Wave 2 will have Skeletor along with an iconic heroic warrior and then another deep cut character. Having the 200x Snake Men faction properly created in figure form would be another dream come true for me. I LOVE their designs. They absolutely blow the vintage ones out of the water. Kobra Khan is the only one who was relatively unchanged (and for good reason his OG design is great). But the others have so much more character than their vintage counterparts. I was so disappointed that we never got to see a third season of the show.

Also just so you're aware the price was never officially announced at SDCC. It was all pure speculation by people online. Though I do think the $80-$100 range is where things are going to land. Personally, I wouldn't mind them have a subscription and putting a figure out every month for the 1/12th line.

Flipping back to Masterverse though: I really love the idea of the NE line. My only problem is the execution. If the sculpts and paint/plastic quality were on the same level as the Classics line I would be all over them. But as I said there's just too many that fall flat for me. Hopefully, you're able to get some cool 6 inch figures from Mondo if they speak to you.

@smokinya Thanks for the clarification! Although the quality is there, I'll obviously be more willing to spend money on their new Motu lines if it's closer to the $80 price range. I kind of hoped that no one would consider going as high as Super7, who are currently making their Ultimates! figures relatively unaffordable, but hey, "never say never" I guess...

But we'll see what happens when the curtain rises. And I definitely agree about the subscription thing. I mean, it is exactly what has given Motuc its own longevity, this sales model is the best guarantee you can bet on. Not to mention that it is being exploited by many different companies these days.

Classics will fall in status if Mattel keeps making figs as good as New Eternia Evil-Lyn and Mer-Man.

These are the Masterverse figures that are superior to Classics to me and they are all New Eternia.

Buzz-Off

Two Bad

Snout Spout

Stratos

Man-At-Arms

Tri-Klops

Horde Trooper

Evil-Lyn

Mer-Man

Trap Jaw is a maybe. I haven't fully decided.

Solid list. I would add Mekaneck.

Trap Jaw definitely, New Eternia version is probably the best Trap Jaw ever made... I would also add Sy Klone, Ram Man, Webstor, Whiplash (although is a very strange figure), Clawful, Beast Man (first version of course)...more less all New Eternia figures look better than Classics IMO...I just hope we will get the rest of the crew (Kobra Khan and the Snake Men, Modulok, Multi Bot, Rio Blast, Extendar...)
