It gives an intense retrò taste, it is a really good figure. The New Eternia one pales if compared to this.Official promotional shots of the upcoming Masterverse Masters of the Universe "Vintage Collection" ZODAC figure expected out Spring 2025.

@mighty-thanos Yeah, pretty sure the 'Vintage Collection' buck will have the beefier look ... the "squint hard enough and it almost looks like MOTU Classics" look.
@he-mayon I love New Eternia too, but Durendal was talking about the arms and legs which are thinner than MOTU Classics. That's what my comment was in reference to. Also, we were talking about the 'Vintage Collection' subline, not 'New Eternia'. Â
@durendal Apparently he has lenticular/clear eyes like Mer-Man from New Eternia and a laser blast effect. Looks like his armor has a clear chest symbol too.
@Abbadon I love NE Merman's lens eyes. Webstor has something like that too. But I waited to long to attempt to buy him and missed out.
I think this is the best Zodak's gun has been sculpted. The handle actually uses proper pistol indexing instead of a straight bar.
Right there with you! Once they started zeroing in on what they wanted NE to be (The Trap Jaw wave) they pulled me back in. I would take any and all characters they choose to make if they look cool. I collect GI Joe Classified. The designers have successfully made me buy characters that, in the past, I have cared nothing about. MOTUMVNE (that's just ridiculous LOL) will most likely get me in the same way.
@durendalI didn't read Hyperbolica's follow up post. I saw a lot of all caps and just zoned out.

I think that is one of the growing issues with Masterverse in general. Just too many sub lines that seemingly overlap; and no clear sense of direction. A release here, another release from another sub-property here. It's getting a bit confusing...
Â
@lasastard Just wait until they introduce 200X, Vintage Mini-Comics Characters, Princess of Power Vintage, Ladybird books Characters, The New Masters of the Universe Movie (whatever it's gonna be called), Cartoon Collection, Origins and Masters of the Universe Classics Legacy sublines in Masterverse! 😉

The box designers are probably starting to panic too 😉

@lasastard I'm sick of it too. There's absolutely no cohesive intent with MV - it's completely random, which makes it increasingly frustrating to collect. Three NA figures have been released, yet how long has it been since that deluxe Slush Head figure came out? The effort Mattel put into him signaled that they were confidently all in on the NA sub-faction, yet there's been zilch ever since. This approach is incredibly annoying because it leaves every faction woefully incomplete.Â
If MV is intended to be MOTU's all-encompassing line, then do it like Marvel Legends does it and release themed waves of 6 figures at a time. Hasbro is smarter with regard to knowing what fans want. It would certainly help guide Mattel if they actually bothered to interact with the fandom, but they don't. Remember the days during Classics when there would frequently be character polls?? Whatever happened to that? Everything is so disorganized the way they do it now.

Yup, same with Origins, the 200X line went nowhere. I don't mind different versions of the leads but putting out Lyn and Kronis suggested it was going somewhere. And it would have been so easy with all the modular re-use.
Â
It feels a bit like the people in charge don't understand the concept of collecting and what people are looking for when building up a collection. Hint, it's not random characters from all directions without any sub-line ever getting "finished".Â
Â
I do wonder how this is seen at Mattel HQ though. Feels like someone in charge got carte blanche to just "run with it" but due to ADHD or whatever has completely lost the plot with what's going on with the property ...^^
@lasastard It's just downright stupid with how rudderless the line's management has become. It really does feel like a team with full blown ADHD is running it, incapable of focusing on logical direction. Most fans don't want a mish mash collection consisting of drips and drabs from countless factions that are far from complete, yet Mattel doesn't seem to understand this. Unless they plan to run MV for the next 20 years...
They need to take a page from how Classics was run, though I suspect there's no institutional memory remaining to do so...
