@mighty-thanos Yeah, pretty sure the 'Vintage Collection' buck will have the beefier look ... the "squint hard enough and it almost looks like MOTU Classics" look.
Maybe they used the 40th anniversary He-Man buck. Â
Â
@durendal I had to post this lol. There are worse out there
The Complete Set of Masterverse Masters of the Universe "New Eternia" FISTO illustrations by artist Simon Eckert 🎨 (and courtesy of Roy Juarez.)Â

We have the Power!
A few things:
-It's odd that Evil-Lyn's title is her real name. Nobody else does that.
-Fisto has the Iron Fist. Nobody tell Marvel's lawyers...
-Masks of Power demons on the Fisto art!
-"...with Arm Swinging Action". No. He does not come with that.
-As much as I like the Flying Fists look, how exactly is a spinning bola and shield better than a sword?
-That head is still awful. And the rest of the figure is so good. The art, too.
It looks like the '3 figures per wave' thing is the new norm for Masterverse, looking at these two latest waves. A sign of the economic times ... ?
WANTED IN MASTERVERSE:
Masks of Power Demons, Prince Dakon, Kobolds, Demons (The Terror of Tri-Klops!), Lodar, New Eternia Ninjor, New Eternia Dragon Blaster Skeletor, Lizorr, Hoove, '87 Movie Man-At-Arms, '87 Movie Skeletor Trooper.
@abaddon Maybe the Vintage Collection figure is the "4th" for this and the next wave.
@abaddon Can you imagine how much it would take for them to refresh the entire vintage characters, and only them? I counted seventy-two references.
As for New Eternia, surprisingly they have produced twenty-five characters so far (including the fifteenth wave).
We know the pace when the big reveals happen (Fall / Spring).
Let me do some quick math: three characters per semester equals six per year, which means twelve years for the former (Vintage Collection).
As for New Eternia, assuming Mattel was really determined to do a good job of digging through the entire catalog, eight years to get there.

Yikes! I don't even know if I'll still be on this planet in another 8 years! Hopefully they get through vintage characters spread across sublines before then (for example Stinkor in Revelation, Battle Armor He-Man in Revolution, Battle Armor Skeletor in New Eternia, etc).

Looking at the amount of "adhd" in Origins with respect to tertiary or flat-out "made-up" characters, I am not entire confident that 8 years will be enough 😉
Â
But maybe NE is a more restrictive framework that will tie them more to actually "real" MOTU characters from the vintage line. So there is that. But still, 8 years, good lord. I just hope they go by "popularity" so I can wrap up my collection way before then...
Â
@abaddon Hmmm ... That is a rather delicate approach that would definitely compromise the accuracy of the design, and I was referring to actual replicas of the Motu vintage figures. But, as you just said yourself, the multiple sublines that are in place somehow guarantee the diversity of the characters, which is a start …Â
@Lasastard The big winning question is: What do they mean by "New Eternia"? So far it seems that this concept focuses on strictly reinventing the original designs of well-known characters of the franchise. Now, if I had to judge the sales potential of the Masterverse, just by rating topics dedicated to it and in direct comparison to Origins, I'd say maybe 3x less; which exposes the "black sheep" brand to be granted by similar marketing strategies. TOG New Eternia, anyone? Mind you, some of them are definitely cool (Mutated Mer-Man / Rattlor ...). I wish Mattel would only sell them online, so we could be a little bit protected from the dictate of the retailers, who only want the same old characters over and over again. Mattycollector, I miss those days so much! Everything seemed possible then, absolutely everything!
@onlyoneskeletor true true.
I certainly expect them to drop NE (or "phase out") once they hit the typical "cliff" where they have to move from "tier 1" to "tier 2" territory and just start a new line. "New Eternia Saturday Morning Collection" or whatever.
Which annoys me as a collector because - and I am very much not a completionist - I am increasingly reluctant to get into a line knowing that it will end prematurely. I can only imagine how hardcore collectors feel about how Mattel is handling their various projects.
@Lasastard Strange education, isn't it? I'm trying so hard to channel my wildest dreams so far (not easy after twelve years of Motuc!) and say to myself that maybe half of the vintage catalog has chances to be refreshed and as for the rest, well, I'll keep 'em as is. Knowing that Classics figures are not the best when trying to exhibit real action poses on the shelves, that's my only complaint regarding these.Â
