Every year it gets harder and harder because it seems kids grow out of playing with toys at earlier ages now due to electronics and video games. Last Christmas my boys (now ages 6 and 8) played with their toys for only 2 days after Christmas.

Anyway my 3 year old daughter wants anything Barbie and anything Disney Princess. My boys want an PS5 and robux. Also some five nights at Freddy’s figures only because they loved the movie. That’s all they asked for. I feel like I played with toys until I was at least 10 or 11.

I feel ya man. My little one is 6 and he still plays with toys but I am starting to feel it slip away. He still wants toys but unless it's Motu or Tmnt or another superhero line he plays a day or two with it and is done.

I saw on the telly that the majority of the action figure market is now geared for adults. This is different times.

Mine is 14 now. Sob sob. He has long grown out of wanting toys for Christmas sadly. And even the Neca  Horror Icons, Aliens and Predator figures just gather dust on his shelves. But no it’s teenage toys I guess. This year he wants a new phone, which luckily with SkyTV we get the phone and pay monthly for the year. Also a Siri home pod mini, so he can play his music in his room while he shouts at his mates playing his PS5. Gosh sounds like I’m spoiling him. It’s not as expensive as it sounds. He will get a few little bits for his stocking and that will be that.

funny story - my lad always says ‘Ralph Lorraine’ instead of ‘Ralph Lauren’. So his gran has got a pair of sock, boxers and a dressing gown with ‘Ralph Lorrianne’ embroidered on them. He will open them and give us that frowny stare as if to say ‘ha ha bloody ha, idiots.’

Haha that’s hilarious. I love when they mispronounce things. My oldest used to call a happy meal a chux meal. We never corrected him bc it was cute.

he also asked for a phone. I said no wait a few more years

didn't let my lad have a phone until he started senior school (11-16y/o) when he was 11 and he was walking to and from, hanging out with friends after school etc. let them stay off apps and social media til they really need to. never did my boy any harm

I have 4, 17 yr oldShe wants clothes money/gift cards blah blah. Twin 16 yr old boys, want video games and clothes. Them 3 are out of the fun ages but my little guy just turned 6 last month so for Xmas he wants to pick up right where his birthday left off. Origins is his main deal MOTU wise. He playa with the masterverse also just not as much. More TMNT guys, which is so perfect for next year when the crossover starts coming out. Any toy really and he's set. So far I have got all three boys some cool drones to fly around and so clothes for my girl. Gonna get a mini bike for the boys that they were asking about a while back. My daughter is into care bear memorabilia and I think I am gonna order her a few orginal vintage 1980s bears.

Noice! 40 years later and nothings changed bro. Get them a pair of white socks with stripes on it and a pair of freezy freakies gloves while you're at it! {skeletor}

A while back I read that my generation (Gen X) tended to stop playing with toys at around age 14 and this current generation stopped around age 7. That was true for me and my daughter (who's now 11).  My wife and I still can't believe how quickly she grew out of playing with toys.... We always thought we'd have more years of that type of fun with her.... But I imagine that's how life works in all areas... We always assume we have more time.

Having said that, we're fortunate that our daughter tends to want experiences over tangible items. So, we'll do things like season passes to a local water park, season passes to a somewhat local amusement park, weekend at Great Wolf Lodge, etc.
