With the autum coming to end and winter winds blowing in, it means Christmas is just around the corner. So in the festive spirit, what are your fave Christmas movies to cosy on down to?
I love a Christmas scare and some festive action films. Every year I watch a Christmas film every day (sometimes more than one) from the 1st to the 26th of December. Always something new and a few that are ones I watch every year.
my traditional ones include:
Die Hard (yes it is a Christmas movie)
Black Christmas 1974
Gremlins
Arthur Christmas
The Christmas Chronicles
It’s a Wonderful Life
Better Watch Out
Krampus
Violent Night
Fatman
Home Alone
Silent Night, Bloody Night
also I’m looking forward to a new Christmas horror coming soon called It’s a Wonderful Knife. A horror version of the James Stewart film. After saving her town from a psychotic killer, Winnie Carruthers' life is less than wonderful. When she wishes she'd never been born, she finds herself in a nightmare parallel universe where without her, things could be much, much worse.
The best holiday film is Christmas Evil. I am looking forward to Eli Roth's Thanksgiving.
Home Alone(already watched once already), Gremlins, Christmas vacation (my all time favorite), A Christmas story, Its a wonderful life and The first Santa Clause
I haven't really watched many Christmas things lately, but I do watch the scene with the "Scrooge" song from Muppet Christmas Carol every year on YouTube. Which reminds me, its about time to watch it again!
@adam_prince-of-eternia Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving is definitely on my to watch list!
Well fans of Die Hard might recognize my avatar. I'm DEFINITELY excited to watch that Christmas movie soon!
Â
We do watch a lot of the ones mentioned here--Christmas Vacation, Elf, It's a Wonderful Life. I traditionally watch the He-Man & She-Ra Christmas Special while we put up the tree.
Â
A couple that I haven't seen mentioned here are the very cheesy yet nostalgic A Very Brady Christmas. And my wife and I watch The Holiday each year as a date night movie. Â
Â
As for Thanksgiving films...I remember seeing the original Eli Roth Thanksgiving trailer in the Death Proof/Planet Terror showing so I'm down to check that out. I also always watch Prisoners. Not a feel good holiday film but it does take place during Thanksgiving and I absolutely love it.

Enjoy the viewings, everyone!
The Grinch
A Christmas Story
The Nightmare Before ChristmasÂ
The Christmas Martian.
@felgekarp Never heard of that one. Got to go looking for it!

@he-dad It’s something a bit different, it has just got a blu ray release so i’ve picked myself a copy up but you can find it on youtube.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Christmas with the Kranks (yes, terrible reviews, but something about the cast just works for me)
I also fondly remember "Santa Claus: The movie" - with Dudley Moore from 1985. Haven't watched in a few years, but this thread reminded me to put it on the list 😉
And finally, The Santa Clause, with Tim Allen.Â

Tim and Jaime are awesome in that!

The Muppet Christmas Carol
Muppet Family Christmas
Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas
The Nightmare Before Christmas
He-Man & She-Ra Christmas Special (of course)
@adam_prince-of-eternia just watched Thanksgiving. It was standard slasher fare. Nothing special or stand out. Practical effects were pretty good. It was let down a bit by some poor dialogue/acting and bad cgi. Overall it wasn’t a disappointment and delivered plenty of thanksgiving gore and I really enjoyed the whole Black Friday/Thanksgiving idea.

I am going to see it with my family next Thursday.

My favorites:
It's a Wonderful Life (my all-time favorite)
A Christmas Story
Elf
Scrooged
He-Man & She-Ra: A Christmas Special
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (animated)
Others I try to catch at least portions while they are on: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Jingle all the Way, Home Alone and any Christmas Carol movie. (My wife loves those Hallmark movies)
I love Die Hard, Gremlins and Lethal Weapon (but I do not watch them for Christmas.) 🙂

What blasts from the past. I believe I watched both of these but I honestly don't remember much about them. Do you both remember Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol? I surprisingly found that on DVD in a discount bin and am looking forward to watching it after all these years. 😀

We have the Power!
The Muppet Christmas Carol is one I'll watch more than once a year, also MST3K's Santa conquers the martians and their Santa Claus, the Mexican film where a devil gives Santa grief.Â
