As I was thinking about it when it comes to character design the rebels seem more human. Adora even rides a horse. On the other hand the Heroic Warriors look more otherworldly like Stratos, Buzz-Off, ...

I never thought of it that way but I think you're right. The heroic warriors and the rebels don't really mesh that well.
