So fairly recently, word broke of McFarlane losing the rights to DC comics universe come 2026.
bleedingcool.com/collectibles/the-dc-multiverse-ends-as-dc-comics-debuts-new-mattel-partnership/
Personally, I was only a sporadic purchaser of McFarlane's Multiverse figs, to say the least. So I'm not too down in the dumps. lol (and some of the more recent Multiverse/McFarlane offerings have been a little bit lacking too but that's a different topic for a different thread.) I actually think of this new deal affects SpinMaster (and it most likely will) I will miss SpinMaster's DC output more than McFarlane's. (The Batman Forever figs from Spinmaster's "DC Retro Collection" were a MUST BUY for this girlie and I would love to see what else they could put out in that line.)
Anyway, what I am really here to talk about is MoTU and how the new Mattel deal affects it.
I'm guessing maybe something like two-pack sets of two 7-inch figures (Masterverse scale), say... He-Man x Superman or She-Ra x Wonder-Woman, Hordak x Darkseid etc
like that MoTU Classics two-pack of He-Man and Supes that Mattel put out in the third year of the Classics line. Maybe we could get some pack-in minicomics to go along with the figures.
Heck, maybe a whole comic series. Mattel have always had a good relationship with DC. DC themselves even had the MoTU comic license for the best part of a whole decade and during that comic's run, there were two crossover limited series and everything with DC Universe vs Masters of the Universe and the heroic warriors getting mixed up in DC Injustice event.
We could have our next 'MOTU X' line after Thundercats.
@chrisa That's right! 😆 I'm living for all the MoTU crossovers we've been seeing recently. MoTU pairing up with DC, being such a HUGE IP (and the new movie coming out next year too, of course) MoTU's mainstream popularity would surely sky-rocket in 2026.
A dream of mine has always been that DC Animation Studios produce a series of MOTU Animated movies.
Just as they have adapted many of their most popular books (Dark Knight Returns, Crisis, Man of Tomorrow, etc.), I would love to see an animated adaptation of He-Man vs. Superman, the Alcala mini-comics stories, and the New Adventures pack-in comics - all done by DC Animation.

You guys are forgetting the Transformers x MOTU line that's coming next. Maybe after that DC x MOTU, which could be interesting...
What I would really like to see is Mattel produce some Motu figures from the memorable Eternity Wars comic book series before I even think about crossing paths with any of these DC characters: Horokoth Evil-lyn, War Wraith...
@ornclown that would actually be amazing!! omg 😭
i love those dc direct-to-video animations, especially the DCAMU - in my opinion, i have always preferred them to the synderverse and i like to think of them as the TRUE dc extended universe (but i guess we'll have to wait and see what james gunn has in store for us come summer, lol)
i really like the idea of an animated version of the original mini comics 😊 it's honestly such a rich canon and it's a version of he-man et al that often gets woefully overlooked. i suppose the closest thing we ever got to seeing the mini-comics world on screen was in that old animated commercial from '82.
but a he-man movie or series in the dcamu style would be metal as all hell! lol

God yes!
Any of the characters from this series would be welcomed! The designs were kind of all over the place, but they all looked pretty awesome.

Without a doubt.
One of the joys of the DC animated movies is that they span all kinds of continuities, realities, universes, and eras... making a set of MOTU movies plays right into this freedom. It is so expansive that DC wouldn't have to stick with one continuity, and could instead explore all different eras throughout MOTU's rich history.

So this may not be exactly the right thing to bring up in this forum but since recently getting back into MOTU, I've been constantly thinking about a franchise that I'm a massive fan of that 1. Is currently collabing with DC for apparently a year 2. Has made it's way back into the mainstream thanks to the film adaptations which hopefully will be the same for MOTU 3. Should a crossover with this series happen, it could bring more MOTU brand awareness which is what I'm assuming why Mattel is doing all these crossovers ahead of the movie.
And if you're a big fan or just know enough about it, I think there are enough similarities between the two series and now I suddenly really want a crossover
Hints:
- Swords and Emeralds
- Skulls and Eggs
- Fantasy with Sci-fi elements/Sci-fi with fantasy elements
- 80s icon and 90s icon
- Power.......and speed

yes, yes, yes !!! i'd be absolutely WILD for such a crossover. just think of the toys we'd get 😭 ughhh
@onlyoneskeletor these would be some of my favorite figures if they could be made. 😭 i actually really love DC's spin on MoTU, those comic books played a huge, HUGE formative role in shaping my he-man fandom when i was growing up. i read/bought them all throughout middle school and well into my early college days. (i was 13 y/o in 2012 when they started coming out.)
toys based on the eternity wars would be great. and i'm sure they could be doable too. 😊
i mean, remember motu classics worked in some figures based on the classics mini-comics (such as that weird disgued he-man in the brown hood - i forget what he's really called lol)
@adoralovely I think there would be a bit of a problem in how differently the Sonic and MOTU characters are scaled and proportioned, but they would probably make it work.
Hero (Sonic/Adam)
Little buddy and tech genius (Tails/ Orko and Duncan)
Female main cast protagonist with crush on hero (Amy/Teela)
Strong guy who's sometimes simple minded who was an enemy at first (Knuckles/ Both Ram-man and Fisto)
Eggman and Skeletor, need I say more?
Metal Sonic and FAKER. Robotic doppelgängers who I feel like the scenarios write themselves somehow. Also I emphasize Faker because whenever I think of the character I think of an iconic exchange among fans between Sonic and Shadow in Sonic Adventure 2.
Silver is my favorite Sonic character but I haven't consumed enough MOTU media so best I can think of is Zodac?
As for Shadow, I made a topic/forum whatever we call these I'm new to these types of sites that no one has commented on about how he may share some slight similarities with '18 Hordak despite Shadow being an anti-hero.
Despite this I would get the real feeling a traditional pure evil Hordak would really try to convince The Ultimate Lifeform to join the Horde.
Really just imagine a comic where Shadow take on the entire Horde army himself then goes 1-on-1 with Hordak and it would be the coolest s**t ever. Think the Shadow Gens Dark Beginnings YouTube shorts for the feel.
Another. Blaze/She-Ra. Royal female counterparts of main hero.
@adoralovely I used to nickname him "The Potato Man" because of the bulky way he looked (lol).
