Welcome to "Battle For Eternia", a Masters of the Universe podcast where past meets present, where vintage clashes with contemporary, where we discuss MOTU topics in the context of both historical and modern day. In today's episode, Adam and AJ (with special guest Jukka Issakainen) discuss the historic Mark Taylor "Masters of the Universe" concept art that is going up for auction, compare them to some contemporary Masterverse "New Eternia" action figures... and reveal what they would like to see happen to this artwork. We have the Power!
This was breezy 60 minutes. Whoever picked this topic gets a job very well done.
Thank you very much for having me on the podcast! Had a great time, despite some of my technical difficulties (working on fixing them in the next months). 🙂
I hope that the profits from all art sales will greatly benefit Rebecca!
Does she have money problems?

No idea, but she's retired and a widow. I think for most people in that situation there comes a time when you do need to make some changes to keep yourself afloat - my mom will have to do that soon.

That makes sense.
Does anybody have any info on Mark Taylor’s specific art style? I think his line work is really cool and I had a fellow student in high school who was an amazing artist and drew exactly like him. I don’t remember him ever referencing Master of the Universe, so I don’t think he was copying him, he was just an amazing artist and could crank out cool comic book style art effortlessly and it looked exactly like Marks style.
Not really sure what you would call his style, but he could do a lot of different styles. Here's some artwork he did for Tarzan:
He did this Tarzan comic, not sure exactly what it was for. Maybe it came with the Tarzan figure, or something else? But why the motorcycle?
