@depp76 Toyhabits reported on it a few weeks ago. All they knew at the time was it was an army builder, but I don't think anyone expected this.

Here we are ... The reason why Mattel designers insisted on the modularity of these figures during the virtual event, while recalling their experience with the Necro-Conda character. The general opinion about these products will be interesting to read, to say the least ...

Do these have a history? They look very 'Classics era'.

I POd them because FOMO but I can't say I'm excited because I was hoping for, say, a Skelcon, specialist Horde Trooper, Snake Warrior and some version of Randor's elite guard or something.

@sketchyskeletor I don't think they are from MOTUC. The Horde Reverent looks familiar as does Skel-Knight and Paragon Champion looks like Mat-at-War, the Snakemen(man) is giving Sketchbook Two-Ban vibes, but I think they are all new "characters".

@sketchyskeletor For someone with decent Motu knowledge, I've never heard of them, so it's safe to say they're pure invention of our designers.

Presumably this is a mistake or TWS are importing, because that price just won't fly on either side of the pond. Even if the set was massive.

@onlyoneskeletor Yeah, but the could be used in other ways. Throw a cape on the Horde Reverent and he's basically Horde Prime. With a little bit of extra work one could make Man-at-War from and extra Man-at-Arms, Or you could do nothing and just call him that. Skel-Knight could be new version of Skeletor New Eternia style. The Pit Warden is the only one that really stands out as a completely new idea, but even that is just because he seems to be inspired by concept art for Two-Bad.

@sketchyskeletor You had two camps regarding this speculation (1) Those who were hanging on to the good old days when they could grab a Snake Mountain for an average of 89$ (2) Those who feared that the current inflation would imply such an unpleasant surprise. Well, quite frankly, no matter what the price, I'll be in the game for this kind of item, one last time, as I've been longing for this moment for a decade now, to complete what I consider to be the three essential domains of Eternia.

I don't think there's any way the FZ somehow costs around 40 bucks more than Snake Mountain, and most people will just laugh at that price. It's the least popular of the big three for many as well.

Been waiting for the FZ for years but that's extortionate if it's correct. It'll bomb if so.

@sketchyskeletor I'm also afraid that this overestimated price will be unwelcome. Personally, this irritating wait has led me to consider many desperate options, such as buying the vintage one and then handing it over to a customizer to try to match the Motuc finish as much as possible. So there is definitely an opportunity here, at least for me.

@smitty-81 Such innovation can indeed be a real fun initiative in such a hobby; although I must admit that I'm more inclined to finish off a few factions like the now unloved Snake Men (lol). Quick Flick and his T-Rex head... Awesome! Judging from what I can see here, the amount of molds reused per figure would definitely be equivalent. PS: Man O' War (as I like to call him) is really an exciting variation of Duncan for the Masterverse line, although I still have some minor reservations about the attachment system of the mask sliding from the lower to the upper face.

They designed the Origins line so every single Origins collector can do this and create their own original characters. You guys just ain't doin it right. You're not using this line to it's full potential. Don't know how to customize figures? There are tons of tutorials on Youtube. just like with everything else, we all had to start at the beginning. No excuses.

With that being said, I totally love this set. Wish I could afford to get about 4. But I'll have to be happy with 1.  I wish Masterverse got 1/4 of the love Origins gets. It's not fair at all.

So, what are the chances we'll see NA characters in Origins? Aside from Jetlag He-Man as part of that silly 4-pack, there's been no representation at all, which is pathetic 5 years into the line, yet we got all 10 Sun Man characters 😆

In Masterverse they released 3 NA guys, but nothing for a long time now.

The fan in me keeps the spring of hope flowing eternally.... however, Mattel seems to have some weird hate toward New Adventures.

It was the only faction to not get a complete vintage redo in Classics, and as you stated, there has only been one figure representing NA in Origins... and that figure comes from an extremely overpriced 4-pack.

Masterverse really got me excited when they released both He-Man and Skeley plus Slush Head... but NOTHING since. 🙁

I guess we just have to be patient and, after Mattel releases six or seven more Beastman variants, we will see another NA figure.

Not a fan of this 4-pack... figures seem very uninspired.

I think that it would really appeal to kids walking down the toy aisle however... but, this will most likely not show up at retail.

Same. These are for creative collectors who want to build their own figures. It might as well come with a set of paints.

@kraken I like the figures as they are. But I think I'm a bit different it that I like "new blood" in the franchises I enjoy, sometimes more that the same old stuff we've seen before.

So give me elite warriors for each MOTU faction, give me a blue repaint of Sunstreaker from Transformers.

Presumably this is a mistake or TWS are importing, because that price just won't fly on with side of the pond. Even if the set was massive.

Ooff, that price would be a tough pill to swallow given how much smaller the set appears to be compared to SM or Grayskull. I mean, I think I am pretty much out after FZ, seeing how the line has been developing (prices, availability, nerd taxes, character selection etc). So probably something I will be willing to spend to have all three main playsets as a cap stone to the collection, but still....

Amazon's European sites STILL have discounted Grayskull and 'Mountain, you'd absolutely struggle to sell the FZ for 80 anything never mind 130-160.

@sketchyskeletor

Unless of course they make it extra special by putting it on Creations and charge you 20 bucks for the chance of maybe being able to pre-order it! Then it'd be fine, i reckon.

Of course! Because reasons! Somebody will defend it, then somebody will overthink it and agree, somebody else says something like 'mixed response', and Mattel sit there laughing at all of us.

@sketchyskeletor $80-$90 is where I figured it would be priced at. Where TF did $130+ come from??
