Any particular reason some Masterverse figures...like Adam, Battle Armor Skelator, such are so expensive on ebay?
Short production or just those waves short shipped or still rolling out?
@allhailmotherboard Who can say for sure? There have been a few references that have suffered the same fate along the way, I guess whether their distribution is an even bigger mess than it actually seems or it is a pure strategic move on their part meant to push the value and thus a better visibility for the brand as a whole over time. To me there is no other reason that could keep them from producing massive quantities for safe bets like Adam or Skeletor...

Yup, and there's also 'quarterly thinking' (a true oxymoron, but especially at Mattel) where certain people to this day* aren't thinking about the next quarter and how you can hobble the brand in just three months. The insane amount of the Origins Naked Stratos wave that was produced and is still around today. Wave 2, of all things, getting dumped in Europe after making Europe struggle to obtain wave 1! Random-ass mini comic Manny going to Amazon. And so on. It's all still visibly happening today. Mattel need to clean house, frankly.Â
* See the countless documentaries for how executives and whoever else met their financial targets.

What are the odds we get a 40th Anniversary SDCC two pack for She-ra like the He-man one?
Rooted hair and soft goods, maybe some more metal weapons?
Hot take- I would want a vintage toy version of Catra over a Hordak. Â Or a Catra with a proper sized transformation cat. Â Hordak has had lots of figures recently and another New Eternia version on the horizon.Â

Packaging like the He-man/Skelly two pack. Etc.Â
Could be cool, but we’ll probably just get that rumored Barbie.Â

Not only would this be an awesome set and great homage to PoP's anniversary, it would be the perfect excuse to fix that fugly face sculpt from the most recent debacle.

@grayskullguardsman I no longer know how to gauge the odds these days. I mean, this hobby sector has become so strange—if not depressing. Ugh!
Every wave of Masterverse we get has the potential to be the final one in this day and age. I honestly don't expect it to last much longer.Â
WANTED IN MASTERVERSE:
Masks of Power Demons, Prince Dakon, Kobolds, Demons (The Terror of Tri-Klops!), Lodar, New Eternia Ninjor, New Eternia Dragon Blaster Skeletor, Lizorr, Hoove, '87 Movie Man-At-Arms, '87 Movie Skeletor Trooper.
@abaddon Given the poor character selection, perhaps it would be best for Mattel to wrap this line up and just concentrate fully on Origins.
I totally expect a 7 inch movie line next Summer but I have no faith it will it be under Masterverse. I still am annoyed Mattel gave 200X to Mondo and didn't make them a Masterverse line instead. Then it could have been affordable.Â

Â
I was thinking the same thing.
I can't help but feel that the worst thing Mattel could do is create a wholly original line just for the movie.
There is absolutely no reason we need three separate lines of MOTU being produced by Mattel at the same time...

There's a high chance the movie bombs too, there just is. A glut of unsold Masterverse movie toys is the last thing that line needs. I'd actually be surprised if they do much more than He-Man and Skeletor after how badly the Netflix and New Eternia stuff flopped in the main. Like to the extent people got pissed off when they announced vintage!
I mean off the top of my head we've got vintage, New Eternia, New Etheria, PoP, movie... and that's assuming the Revs are dead (probably are).

We are years into New Eternia and I am salivating over the Ninjor I just received. Terror Claws Skeletor is metal and I can't wait for the Moss Man. On what planet did New Eternia badly flop because it sure ain't Earth.

Because the availability is often dire and the stock just gets dumped wherever. The UK alone is still swimming in good, unsold figures much less Europe. Deluxes don't seem to be a thing now. The Cretins exclusives are either massively overproduced or simply don't sell. If Masterverse was even a truly decent seller the MOTU brand as a whole would get a shout out during financial calls.

Origins doesn't get shoutouts on financial calls either. Does that make Origins a flop? There are distribution issues with both lines. Mattel is in the business to make money. If Mattel was losing money on Masterverse they would have stopped the line a long time ago. You are overselling the flop.

'Flop' is relative like anything else, I've never claimed otherwise. I didn't claim they're losing money either. I'm suggesting there's more signs than a highway though.Â

Flop is relative?
Â
@mighty-thanos Yup, they could have had modern articulation Classics at retail and the sales to go with it. Now they've got three figures per wave and endlessly re-do certain characters even then.

In England a flop is an apartment.

We'll disagree on flop being relative but the three figure wave isn't so black and white when you consider Mattel has been releasing Masterverse figures with no wave on the back like Skelcon and now Blade in a few weeks. You also mentioned Classics. There are some Classics fans Masterverse will never get a fair shot with even with the figures that have rivaled Classics. I hope that isn't you too. Masterverse has done wrong and released some clunkers but they also put out some terrific stuffÂ

Ninjor... A name that sounds like it's causing big trouble these days. EE? Sold out! BBTS? Sold out! Amazon? Not yet listed! And that's after checking several other stores. Against all odds, eBay was the saviour this time, with a pretty decent price considering the rarity of this New Eternia figure. I'm just so fed up with this phenomenon!
@onlyoneskeletor You prompted me to do a quick check. Looks like it is sold out in Australia too. I only just ordered Evil Lyn and Snout Spout yesterday and it was still available then. I am surprised as Ninjor seemed to have very mixed reactions when announced.
@djfor Disconcerting, isn't it? As you said, there were mixed feelings about that figure, and despite the NE argument being well known for pushing these characters to the next level in terms of design, there was still some scepticism. Once again, this is pure speculation on my part, but could Mattel be lowering production quantities on a few of these figures just to keep the brand visible in the long term? Neither of his Origins renditions (classic/TMNT) seem to be in demand. It was the same in the Motuc era. So, yeah, I find it really suspicious.

I offered Mattel $25.00 and 100 Nekked Stratos Origins figures for one MV Ninjor, and they said no.
It's more fun for Mattel to watch secondhand sellers make more money on one figure than they do on ten...
