I thought it would be fun to start a thread that people could share random MotU and PoP trivia from across all media.

for example…

Did you know…

that in the Brazilian Editora Abril comics, Orko (or Gorpo as he was known) was really a prince from the Moon of Polter? He was the son of the King of Stien. When Adam asks why he disguised himself and moved to Eternia, Orko tells him that he will tell him his secret one day. However that day unfortunately never came in any future issue.

Did you know…

that in the German Audioplays, Skeletor was created by a race of alien giants who came to Eternia’s past after destroying their own planet. Ashamed of what they did, they purged all the evil within them and created a skull faced being and cast him into the time stream

wowie ~ ☆

thank you for dropping some pearls, dan !

being brazilian myself, i knew the first one ☺️ but i definitely appreciate seeing my beloved editora abril comics being acknowledged in the community and i didn't know that about skeletor ! that blew my mind, i LOVE learning new motu universe lore, obrigado ! 🫶🏽

orko was also (curiously) referred to as both gorpo AND orko in the 1985 motu annual published in great britain by world international publishing ltd.

1987 canon movie trivia !

in issue 2 of dark horse comic's "concrete" miniseries "fragile creature" (released in 1991) the title character, concrete, helps out on a film set as a practical effects supervisor. the film in question is a direct parody of canon's 1987 live-action motu movie. the creator and author of concrete, paul chadwick, was himself a part of the real movie's crew, also working on the film's practical effects team.
(i'd say that this trivia ALSO doubles as a reference to he-man in other media hee hee)

2021 cgi series trivia !

in the official lore compendium  "he-Man and the masters of the Universe: heroes and villains guidebook", one of skeletor's "evil ambitions" is to finish his autobiography. the second book in the "tales of eternia" YA novel series is that very autobiography; "I, Skeletor" 😂

@adoralovely I’m quite a fan of the Brazilian comics. Have just finished translating them into English now so I can read them properly. Next step is to photoshop the text into the actual comic but it’s finding the time to do so. My next job is the Italian magic boy translations.

@dan1980 i think i saw a youtube video on that, italy's magic boy thing was like this cool activity book with stories in it as well, a bit like the christmas hardback annuals you have in the united kingdom, but it's all in italian lol

i think that's so interesting actually. when you say you are photoshopping the english translation into the brazilian comics, what do you mean by this dan? are you scanning the comics into your computer and replacing the brazilian portuguese text in the word balloons with english translation ? cos that's so cool !

maybe when you are done translating all the comics, you could upload them to google drive of mega etc? and make them available for others to see, I would love more people to experience our unique take on he-man's world ! ☺️

@adoralovely heya, yes eventually my plan will be to remove the Portuguese text on the comics and replace it with English. And yes I will at some point upload them somewhere to share with people. Lots of the foreign language media is forgotten by people because they can’t read them. And to be honest they have some of the best stories and original characters.

Did you know…

in the German Interpart Condor comics, Jitsu was an emissary and spy from the Empire of the East who came to Eternia to assess if the city had any weaknesses that could be exploited in an attack.

did you know…

in the UK London Edition comics from Egmont, Prince Adam was 21 when he was brought to Grayskull by the Man-at-Arms and he wasn’t given the power of Grayskull until he proved himself worthy to the spirits of the Keclar and the Elders. To do this he was taken to another dimension by the Elders for several weeks and returned as He-man.

Did you know…

in the Italian Più magazine comic strips, He-man and Teela were romantically linked from the start. The comics often showed them on dates such as walks on the beach, picnics and even enjoying swimming together in remote places. Skeletor would oftern ruin their dates with sneaky attacks. The early comics closely resembled the early mini comics with no Prince Adam.

Did you know…

in the Golden Hardcover Books, Skeletor was originally an Etherian who joined the Evil Horde when they invaded Etheria. Becoming Hordak’s apprentice he was transformed when he secretly tried to unlock the power of the mystic ore Etheramite. Stealing a small fraction of the ore he fled to Eternia.
