@thedoctor Well said. You must have seen the D23 reveals. I think all but one project was a reboot, sequel or remake. I think your general statement about fandoms is spot on.
As a MOTU fan, however, I don't think it's expecting too much to want a movie set wholly on Eternia versus Adam stranded on earth for half of the film, doing wacky hi-jinks in an American high school.
But no, I don't expect too much. I am resigned to the fact that any MOTU project will focus on Adam, Teela and Man-At-Arms, maybe Orko, if the CGI works, while all of the other wonderful, diverse characters will be barely be featured and underdeveloped. I am resigned to the fact that Zodac became a Metron rip-off, just as Moss Man has become a Swamp Thing rip-off, even pilfering Alan Moore's term of "the green." I think Keldor was a lazy, late edition retcon, and completely unnecessary. That happens in properties, though, things become hyper-focused and the storytelling loses its sense of grandeur.
I guess that's what I want from MOTU. Fearless fantasy, that sense of grandeur, and living up to and expanding the originality that made it a hit, not swiping DC Comics or tired tropes like the hero is related to the villain.
"Skeletor" himself reveals the details for the proposed live-action MOTU film that's been in development and cast.
