@he-dad I don't know all the repaints. If somebody has a list of them that would be neat to look at.
If anybody has that info its @battleramblog
Can ya help us bro?
From the vintage line, there aren't that many figures that are 100% made from existing tooling.
Stinkor, Moss Man, Panthor, and Screeech, and Faker. Of those Faker and Panthor are well-loved, especially Faker. But probably not more well-loved than He-Man and Battle Cat.
But of course Battle Cat's body was an existing tool from the Big Jim tiger, and Battle Cat is way more beloved and iconic than the Big Jim figure. The Big Jim figure didn't have the saddle and helmet of course. I would say the same for Zoar as compared to the Big Jim eagle.
Great post. Thanks bro!!!! It would have been awesome if there was just one. Maybe Panthor comes the closest but I guess there is nothing that outshines the original except for MOTU itself over Big Jim.

Thanks guys. I don't know why I never considered Panthor a repaint until now. I guess it's because it was flocked and not really a repaint. My brain never went there. It's the same sculpt as Battle Cat so I see it belongs.
Looking outside today it's like this guy showed up and got in a fight with Frosta.

I always liked Icer. I think he deserves more love.
All looking pretty and proper. Love that Plundor gets some attention too! 😍
sorry for the delay in posting more. These bios together give a breakdown of the Horde's history and power structure:
My explanation for why the Horde emblem is Hordak's face if he answers to Horde Prime. See my idea is that it's not Hordak's face in the Horde emblem it's actually his ancestor's. Hordak strongly resembles him, though it should be noted that they both look that way due to their messing with dark magic and their people normally look basically human but with pointed ears -as evidenced by the other Horde World people we saw in Filmation (Prince Zed, Inspector Darkney, Professor Tempus, etc...)
Horde Prime, I had long since decided was Hordak's brother-in-law allowing him to both be father to Hordak's nephew Prince Zed but also having the completely different look from the UK comics. (he's of a different race obviously) The name Academica for the Horde home world also comes from the UK comics. In Filmation it was just called Horde World and when shown looked like an asteroid field instead of a planet -thus my explanation: "Horde World" is the exploded remains of Academica.
The name Vespertili is from Latin meaning "of or resembling a bat"
Dorina is 99% my original character. I mean obviously Prince Zed had a mother so I didn't completely make her up. A detail I failed to mention in the actual bio (mostly due to limited space on the card) is that Adora bears a strong (though coincidental) resemblance to her which is one of the reasons Hordak became attached to her. (that's actually a picture of Force Captain Adora from the UK comics) Behind the scenes this is the reason I chose the name Dorina -I should mention I came up with this long before the Four Horsemen released the She-Ra inspired Mythic Legions figure that they too chose the name Dorina for.
The main point of this was to write in an excuse for why the Snake Men weren't causing problems during the time He-Man was away on Primus. Working in Hiss' alternate look was just an add on.
Note: No She-Ra does not go to the future with He-Man for the New Adventures part. She goes off searching the galaxy in the time between defeating the Horde and the "He-Ro: Son of He-Man" era. LONG before the Classics continuity I had already mapped out my story which took most of its inspiration from Lou Schiemer's unproduced series. In that version Dare was found and adopted by Adam and a major plot point would be discovering his true parents which was ultimately (like season/series finale) going to be revealed to be Adora and Sea Hawk. I made a lot of changes for my version of course but always stuck with the "he's Adora's long lost son" angle.
My original reason for going with the name Derrick was that people called him "Dare" which was a shortened nickname version of his true full name. Ultimately I kept making changes to the point I ended up dropping the whole name of Dare altogether. My version is named Derrick and people call him Derrick.
...and yeah, while originally inspired by the "He-Ro: Son of He-Man" story idea, I made so many changes and kept putting my own spin on it until he became almost entirely my original character. I honestly don't remember why I originally decided to give him the scar (which by the way disappears when he turns into He-Ro II)
Here's a batch of alter ego bios
@lordofdestruction Excellent effort mate.

@lordofdestruction Great job mate. I chuckled at that Ninjor bio. That bio knows Ninjor's entire life story yet knows not his name.

As I previously established, Sharella is NOT Green Goddess. Never was. Never will be!

Could you elaborate mate? I seem to have missed this controversy.

Well Sharella was supposed to be released alongside He-Ro and Eldor in the original Powers of Grayskull line back in the 80's that never happened. We had little to go on back then just a brief description that stated she was a tribal chieftess who taught Gray/He-Ro combat skills and there was some implication of her being his love interest. We had no prototype figure or artwork at first but it was later determined that the archer woman seen on Megator's vintage box art was Sharella.
Fast forward to the Classics line and when they released the Green Goddess figure she was originally going to be named K'yrulla, but then brand manager Scott "Toyguru" Nietlich overrid this and insisted on giving Green Goddess the name Sharella from the unreleased character. They had actually already printed the cardback bios with the name K'yrulla and stuck a sticker with the name Sharella over them!
Now I, and several others, were not happy about this. I wanted an actual Sharella in the line. I was interested in the Powers of Grayskull/Preternia characters but have never been much of a fan of the Pre-Filmation era. After being repeatedly questioned about this in Q&As by the fans (again me in particular) Scott added a bit to the Classics lore explaining that the Sharella we knew and wanted existed for a while then got transformed into Green Goddess. Apparently he hoped this would placate us. It didn't I still strongly felt that they should be two separate characters. Sadly it seems this bit got carried over into Origins lore in Wun-Dar's mini comic. And we STILL have never gotten a proper Sharella figure!
This was just one of many things Scott added to lore in Classics that I hated and refuse to accept as canon (Etheria being inside Depondos is another big one) and a major reason I set out making my own bios in the first place.
@lordofdestruction Thank you for the detailed explanation and the added bonus of what inspired you to take on this creative quest in the first place. I know Scott would disagree yet situations like this make me pleased there is no definitive canon or definitive line of figures. Revelation, Revolution, Origins, and Masterverse, has made that fact more prominent. I believe that is why Scott has rallied so hard against them. Scott Nietlich is an interesting character. He seems like a gentleman at times yet often projects common symptoms of narcissism. His behaviour reinforces that there is no requirement to adopt some of his narrative choices even if the current management at Mattel chooses to favour them.

Ok when I originally wrote these bios I worded it as Netossa and Spinnerella being "close friends" but to be clear; yes they are a romantic couple in my canon. If you have a problem with that, well, that's your problem. I'm not going to go changing everyone like the Netflix She-Ra did, (Adora and Catra HATE each other) but these two were always meant to be a couple. S&P just wouldn't let them come out and say it in the 80's.
Yep, I made him the guy from the Visitors From Earth episode.
