@disneyboy right now my display has mostly VC figures. The only CC figures are She-Ra, Catra and Two-Bad. They all look fine together.

@ornclown It's very frustrating because there's no media in which the MOTU females are noticeably shorter than the guys. They might be slightly shorter at most, so why are they a full inch shorter in the CC?? It's ridiculous and a real shame because the sculpts of the women have been very good otherwise.
@durendal is it really that much? At the 1:12-ish scale that makes all the woman about 5 feet tall and all the men about 6 feet.
They probably moved all the people that were good at females to work on Barbie.Â

The Classics Club Grayskull Filmation Skeletor head looks good. Â And Mattel made that. Then Super7 rereleased it.Â
My biggest gripe with the Cartoon Collection is that all the females are waaay too little. They look ridiculous standing next to the males.  Being like 6 females in, I guess it’s too late to course correct…
That bothers me too. I should be able to recreate the Secret of the Sword poster without She-Ra looking like a tween.
Â
So I just got the Adam and Cringer 2-pack from Target because they were selling it for half off, $15 and I knew it was a steal. I already have quite the MOTU Origins collection, but this is my first Cartoon Collection figure. Planned to get some of these once I got more normal Origins figures but maybe a few CC figures now wouldn't hurt.
So I'm asking you guys I've heard that the new CC Faker legit makes for a better animation accurate He-Man than the Wave 1 one. I want some opinions, is it worth getting over normal CC He-Man to stand in for He-Man? Do y'all recommend CC Faker?
First off: congratulations on getting the Adam / Cringer 2-Pack. It is one of my absolute favorite toys of 2024, and one of my favorite MOTU toys overall.
Second: If you missed CC He-Man the first time around, I would totally just get CC Faker as a stand-in. The only real gripe I have with Faker is the fact that his skin tone is a bit too light... He-Man should be tan. However, the smooth (Filmationesque) boots, redder loincloth / feet, and more slender scabbard are all reasons that outweigh the skin difference... for me anyway.
Â
Also is CC Skeletor a good figure for someone getting into Cartoon Collection?
CC Skeley is probably the weakest of all the CC collection figures.
Don't get me wrong, he is a great toy, but not very Filmation accurate.
I know that the Cartoon Collection isn't supposed to be a 1:1 to Filmation, but even with lights-turned-off, calling this version of Skeletor "cartoon" is a stretch. (This issue is probably exacerbated for me because I have him standing next to the Club Grayskull MOTUC version...)
At the end of the day though, I would still recommend him as a counterpart for He-Man.
Â
I saw this puppy a bit ago and wished that Mattel's looked as good:
ÂCustom Filmation Skeletor head for Origins
I think they changed sculptors because those first few figures were off. Mattel needs to make newer versions of He-Man Skeletor and Beast Man.
Â
@smitty-81 I didn't measure it exactly, but it's gotta be pretty close to that. The guys tower over the ladies. It's disappointing because otherwise they're on point. In Classics it was the opposite problem, where the women were a tad too tall. Some, like Glimmer for some reason, were even taller than the men.
Why is this so difficult for Mattel to get right?
Agreed.
Mattel's CC Beastman and Skeletor, especially, are terrible figures. (I'm not even sure what they were going for with that Beastman head sculpt...?)

A lot of people would chalk this up to us just "being picky" or too critical... however, these are issues that even the layman can see right out.
Put Teela next to He-Man (both from the same exact line) and she is noticeably smaller.

I just measured CC Stratos and CC Teela and there is about a half inch difference. If the are 1:12 scale then Stratos would be 6 feet and Teela would be 5 feet. That puts Teela about 4 inches shy of average and Stratos 3 inches over average.

Hey guys so I am looking to get a Hordak figure on eBay (not the recent Cartoon Collection one) but I want quick opinions: Normal or Deluxe Buzzsaw Hordak?
Buzzsaw may seem like the obvious choice what with included the extra head, hand and play feature, but I'm not that interested in the Origins deluxe play gimmick variants of already existing figures. Have Battle armor He and Skelly and don't get me wrong they're good figures, but the main selling point for me was the sword halves with each homaging the very first figures of the characters back in '82 also He-Man's cool included lighting effect piece that fits any of the power sword accessory mold. In my opinion, stuff like Flying Fists/Thunder Punch He or Dragon Armor/Terror Claws Skelly just look plain ridiculous to me and not the fun type of ridiculous that the whole franchise has a lot of just plain ridiculous. No interest in them for me.
Enough unnecessary rambling BACK TO HORDAK. While Buzzy Hord is cheaper and way more is included, I prefer the non-gimmicky figures mainly because the design isn't compromised (Normal has a cleaner back and better chest symbol in my opinion). Yeah normal Hordy goes for more on eBay, but since getting back into MOTU collecting, I don't mind paying for less than $40-$50 aftermarket priced figure. Trust me I've collected Transformers for years and Origins eBay prices are literal cupcakes compared to the HELL that is poorly stocked but really desired TF eBay prices.
Any of you understand my collector point of view? Whether you do or not, I would just quickly wanna hear preferences.
@slycooperastroboy51 Buzzsaw Hordak is fully modular so you could get him now, and later on get the upper torso and armor from regular Hordak. It might save you a few bucks.

@smitty-81 I don't do the whole encouraged swappable body parts thing with my Origins figures (with the obvious exception of the heads and hands but usually only the figures they were included with) at the risk of joints getting looser over time or small things on them breaking.
When I first started collecting Origins and getting in MOTU back in 2022 (it was a short period of being a casual fan and then just losing interest until more than a month ago) one of my first figures I got was the then new Sorceress. Tried pulling her head off and it was a bit tight, which caused her shoulder to crack a bit. I eventually recently got a new one along with her entire WAVE on sale for less then $30 on BBTS. Yeah they were shelf warmers but four figures for that price was a huge steal and was one reason I recently got back into the franchise.
Bottom line I keep my figures in one piece and swap parts when they are included ones meant to be swapped.
Â
That being said your suggestion is actually a really good one and I may make one exception just for that. Good idea.
@slycooperastroboy51 if you heat the up with a hairdryer or in hot water they come apart more easily.

@slycooperastroboy51 the type of plastic used to make Origins figures is more flexible and pliable and expands slightly when heated up. As long as you don't do something silly like, expose it to a hairdryer or heat gun for too long or put it in boiling hot water. You should be able to warm the parts up a little bit and pull them apart more easily.

@smitty-81 Yeah not doing that. Like I said I'm not really into the swappable parts gimmick. Not just because of my first Sorceress experience, but also in general I don't want figure joints to quickly get loose from all the pulling apart.
@slycooperastroboy51 i have been swapping parts on all my figures from day one of MOTWWEU. The only looseness i've found comes from factory defects. These figures were made to be taken apart and put back together all the time. Trust me they can take it.

@smitty-81 I really appreciate the reassurance that they're durable from frequent part swapping but nah I still ain't doing it. Would rather just keeping their normal looks unless I occasionally want a different character expression or have someone solo or dual wield weapons. Arms, legs and torsos for me always stay where they're meant to be with that cool Hordak suggestion you gave me being the sole exception (Thanks btw will ponder it).
While on the subject I got Teela from eBay (it's either it or BBTS where I get my MOTU stuff) and she's fine except her arm frequently falls off probably from being MIB for five years somehow? Maybe get another. I know Mattel keeps doing the "Fan Favorite" reissues of major characters such Orko, Trap Jaw, Tri-Klops, etc., but they should REALLY consistently have the first wave of the line in constant circulation on non-aftermarket retail sites mainly standard Duncan and Teela, the two literal side protags of the whole franchise! Same with standard Beast Man and Evil-lyn.Â
Yeah I ramble a lot. 😆Â
@slycooperastroboy51 they stopped doing Fan Favorites (FF) figures, far too soon if you ask me. Your Teela most likely has a defective arm socket.

@smitty-81 Are Mattel going to or seemingly gonna stop doing normal OG toy based Origins in general? even reissues? Because that is my main priority when it comes to MOTU collecting. Newer Origins sub-line stuff like Cartoon Collection and Turtles (TMNT is a franchise I have passing interests in sometimes) I'll dabble just a little into if the figures are really good.
I understand why they were taken off Walmart and Target shelves but that doesn't mean people don't want them it just means the guy at Mattel who thought mass producing Speedo Stratos at retail over normal Strat is probably really fired. The least they can do is keep reissuing a lot more of the older figures for online retailers. Standard normal versions and not stuff like mini-comic variants that should've been exclusives.
Maybe and hopefully that WILL happen next year to tie-in with the upcoming film. I mean it makes sense from a business standpoint.
As for the upcoming Thundercats crossover line.....it looks cool but let's face it if it's gonna be sold in stores it'll flop hard. No offense to TCats fans but it's a REALLY dormant franchise outside of comics and has been since 2011 (yes since 2011 totally) due to the fact that it's owned by WB. TCat fans, god rest your souls.
Yeah I've been back into collecting this toyline for a month and the way it's headed is really confusing. Y'know what I would do?
1. The online reissues I mentioned
2. A crossover with a franchise that's as big as Turtles in terms of scale. If hopefully the new movie skyrockets MOTU back into the mainstream, I know a certain perfect franchise to pair that the more I think about, the more I want and am surprised NOBODY has thought nor talked about the possibility.Â
@slycooperastroboy51 as far as we know there's no more FF figures coming at all. The remaining Vintage Collection (VC) figures are going to be on Mattel Creations (MC).
As for getting past figures your best bet is ebay.Â

Vintage Collection as in the remaining characters from the original toyline?
Masterverse is doing a "Vintage Collection" that is extremely pointless when you think about it. ORIGINS' whole thing is vintage toy based. Really what was Mattel's thought process? Not planning on getting any Masterverse but it's supposed to be MOTU's equivalent to Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series in terms of how it's presented and how it represents the entire franchise......except She-Ra 2018 as of now no doubt sadly for legal reasons but NGL I would buy a Masterverse '18 Hordak and Entrapta in a heartbeat.
You think even after they finish the remaining OG toyline characters they'll continue making new figures in the Origins style and scale? (Let's be real it wouldn’t be "Origins" by that point)
Vintage Collection as in the remaining characters from the original toyline?
Yes. The Origins: Vintage Collection is the remaining characters from the original toy line and whatever other characters they do in that style, like Demo-Man and Geldor.

At some point they'll have to shift focus again, and outside of vintage toy PoP theres not much out there. They could do 200X CC or anything with NA. It's possible that they could start over with using Thundercats bodies. There’s also a movie coming and the anniversary of the 87 movie so they could start doing a Film Collection. They also just got the DC license so a crossovers could come from that.

God, I wish they would just get OG Origins over with so I can close that construction side on my shelves ^^
Will be interesting to see if the remaining vintage characters will keep their "open access" on Creations or if they pay wall them also. Really depends on how many people got suckered into the Club Grayskull thing, I imagine.Â
And yes, re-issues would be a great idea, I think. Actually, they already did that - but sadly not for characters that I missed out on. Fingers crossed they keep going through the list. Still need a Leech and Snout Spout.

Unfortunately it's the one thing they can stretch out via online exclusivity (or worse). They still want their crowdfunds... That said, it looks like the Cartoon Collection isn't a big seller or is seriously overproduced, so maybe it could wind up online too for the Mattel gouging reasons you've mentioned. I'd guess that's the only way they'd even consider NA.
I want vintage finished too, just to limit my exposure to Mattel and their e-tail shitshow somewhat.Â
