@brasco Someone over at Mattel must have leaked the entire summer catalog to them and now they are trickling it out for maximum clicks. I hate when sites do that. Just report on the whole thing.

Masterverse is really starting to make me HATE He-Man, Skeletor, Man-At-Arms & Teela. The constant variations of the same 4 characters is exactly what killed the 200x line. I always hear that Mattel keeps making the same core characters because they want kids to be able to find a version of He-Man & Skeletor on the pegs. That argument completely falls apart when the toy line IS NOT IN STORES & is like 95% online only. Who are they trying to fool? Kids don't buy this stuff. Maybe 1 or 2 kids buy it but overall only Gen-X adults buy this stuff.  Mattel really needs to pull its head out of its ass. 

When Masterverse first started I was hyped as hell & 100% into it. I skipped the classics line because I was pissed off at what they did to the 200x line. And I heard a ton of horror stories about Matty Collector. And the figures were too damn expensive. So when Masterverse was announced I thought it would be my answer to Classics. But nah! They're just constantly rehashing the same characters. And Masterverse doesn't even have 1 Snakeman yet. 

It didn't sell at retail. Most of it went straight to clearance. And now, the worst possible thing is happening, we're starting to have certain figures sell out immediately & get jacked up higher than the Classics. Just look at Webstor. There's a Webstor on eBay that says it sold for $225. 

I also don't understand this, Buzz-Off showed up at DD's Discount stores for $3.99 IIRC. But online they are all $30 or $40+. How does that work??? Usually, the figures that don't sell well or were overproduced end up at the discount stores. Buzz-Off, Webstor & Faker have been hard to get & sold out very quickly everywhere. So WTF is up with that? I need 4 more Buzz-Offs for a huge custom project I'm working on. But as of now, it looks like my best bet to keep costs down is to crack his body open, make molds to recast in resin & then just put the body back together & glue it. That's a lot of work for a new figure that should still be available everywhere. Meanwhile, I can order a truck load of of Origins Buzz-Offs for $7 each.  

Also, when Masterverse first hit, BBTS sold out of Stinkor. He was sold out for a long time but then he showed up again & after all this time, he is still IN STOCK. I keep checking BBTS constantly hoping Buzz-Off will come back in stock. Or switch from sold out to pre-order meaning they are going to get more. But they seem to be permanently sold out.  

This line turned into a mess. It started out awesome & every figure was super easy to get. But now it's starting to turn into the clusterfuck known as 200x.

Yeah! Just go on eBay & search for Masterverse Webstor. The prices are insane. There's one with a BIN for $125. And a new one just popped up BIN $199.99. I only got 3 results. Then look at the completed listings.

He's one of my top 5 favorite characters so I ordered him immediately. No way in hell I was gonna miss out on Stinkor, Spikor, Webstor, Clawful or Buzz-Off.

Webstor is still one I never got around to getting yet figuring I’d be safe to find him on Amazon. Why the heck is he so expensive? Everyone else you can still find easily, he seems to be the only one

I have no freakin clue! He didn't even sell out as fast as New Eternia Faker or Buzz-Off. He sat for a while & when I went to BBTS to order a 2nd he was SOLD OUT. So I started looking everywhere & he was sold out everywhere. I checked eBay & almost crapped myself. 

Webstor is the only one that high. But Faker & Buzz-Off are up around $40. I had a real hard time getting Faker because I didn't pre-order him. Faker sold out immediately everywhere. Luckily BBTS put him up for pre-order again & I snagged one. But that pre-order only lasted a couple days & he sold out again. They probably only got a few more cases & then that was it. 

I can't believe a Masterverse figure is already up to Classics prices. The f**kin scalpers never miss a beat.

Here in Australia I seem to be finding the same problem.  We tend to finally get new figures available (online being the only option for me as I live in a regional area) only to find the prices are already jacked up.  

Man At Arms, Trap Jaw, Mekaneck and Tri Klops came up less than two weeks ago and top dollar is already being applied in many cases.  Mind you, Mekaneck lasted in stock for about a day and now I can't find him priced at anything you could call reasonable.

Only three weeks ago I thought I had finally managed to get my hands on NE Stratos, NE Faker and NE Man-e-Faces for good prices.  Turned out to be a scam 

I searched for Webstor bc now I’m worried I won’t be able to get him for a reasonable price. Amazon has no stock but I saw that deep discount shows him coming on 3/13/24. I’ve heard of them but never bought from them. Can anyone here vouch for them?

They're legit.  I've purchased from them quite a few times in the past with no issues.

Oh! That's fricken weird! I didn't even notice the date. I was looking for a pre-order button. 

I saw some bad reviews for that site so I've been avoiding them & never ordered from them. I wonder if they'll actually get more?  I guess we'll keep watching on the 13th & see what happens. I'm betting they won't get any & the date will change. 

Usually when Mattel is sending out more BBTS & EE will put up new pre-orders. So far nothing on their end. I keep hoping Buzz-Off will get restocked. 😭

Scaplers are half the problem. the other half is peeps are payin those prices. the prices would come down if they weren't selling

AJ ranked Webstor as his #1 for 2023

#1 for me was Motherboard. Then Buzz-Off. 

I tried to pop Webstor's head off & his face place popped off instead. lol  Nothing broken, just cheap glue that didn't hold. It goes right back on & stays on so I left it that way. I didn't glue it back on because I have a feeling I'm going to want to make a mold & copy it in resin for some other customs. It kinda looks like an Oni mask.  

@skeledog I'll have to check them out.  Postage can be a killer as well as my impatience to receive.

@djfor I think - and I could be wrong - that BBTS does not take care of the import tax for you. So on top of pretty steep shipping costs, you might have to deal with your local customs office, in the worst case (unless the carrier handles that and just sends you an invoice). Still, super annoying...

Thankfully, I think I have solved my problems.  I have found an Australian toy site that are great!  Reasonable prices (and not afraid of having a sale), reasonable postage...

I am now the proud owner of NE Man-e-Faces and NE Man at Arms. 😀
