The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that actors James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley have joined the cast of the new “Masters of the Universe” movie as none other than King Randor and Queen Marlena (the parents of Prince Adam… aka He-Man!)
As per The Hollywood Reporter:
"He-Man’s royal parents have been found.
James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley have been cast as King Randor and Queen Marlena in Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films’ live-action take on Masters of the Universe."
Both James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley have a long list of acting experience, starring as various characters in both television and movies. And Charlotte Riley also happens to be the wife of actor Tom Hardy as well.
So as we mentioned yesterday during our Fisto and the Sorceress casting news report, obviously this casting of King Randor and Queen Marlena occurred long before this announcement, so we can’t wait to learn what other characters have been casted and will be featured in this movie!
Filming for “Masters of the Universe” is either currently underway or will be starting soon, with the movie itself scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 5th, 2026.

Tom Hardy as Rio Blast?
Yes! Tom Hardy has the kind of star power I was hoping for with this film. Fingers crossed.
I don’t think we need Tom Hardy. We already have star power with Idris Elba and Jared Leto and the real stars will be He-Man and Teela. It hasn’t happened yet but it will after this movie.
As fun as it would of been to see Dolph play the King, Purefoy is a solid choice. He is a good actor.
They are going to look adorable together. 💓
