Deadline has just reported that actors Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson and Morena Baccarin have joined the cast of the new “Masters of the Universe” movie as none other than Fisto and the Sorceress!
Here is Deadline’s official report:
"Travis Knight’s live-action Masters of the Universe from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel has added Morena Baccarin in the role of The Sorceress and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson in the role of Malcolm/Fisto, we can tell you first.
The duo joins Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops in the screenplay by Chris Buttler with first draft by David Callaham, and Aaron and Adam Nee."
FISTO Actor Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson was born and raised in Iceland, and with his first international film role in the Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah“, is probably best known for his role in the television series “Vikings: Valhalla.”
SORCERESS Actress Morena Baccarin was born in Brazil, starred in many television series and movies and is probably best known as Vanessa Carlysle, the love interest of Wade Wilson in the “Deadpool” movies.
Obviously this casting of Fisto and the Sorceress occurred long before this announcement, so we can’t wait to learn what other Heroic and Evil Warriors will be featured in the new movie!
Filming for “Masters of the Universe” is either currently underway or will be starting soon, with the movie itself scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 5th, 2026.

Me too! I want to see Morena Baccarin in her Sorceress costume. I am so curious what it will look like. Her face is a perfect match to the Filmation Sorceress so I hope they go with the falcon look.

Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress? Zoar yeah! This movie may not have any A-listers but they have cast some interesting actors that could work. But so far I’m most excited about Brie and Baccarin.
As if they’re actually putting FISTO in this big budget mainstream movie – I can’t wait to hear the giggling in the theatre at the film’s expense when his name gets uttered! That said, at least they cast an actor that actually looks like him!
@durendal If they go the more serious route he might not be referred to as Fisto at all. He will only be called Malcolm.

This is a good casting duo here. This movie is looking more and more promising.
Interesting choice of characters to announce together, it makes me think they could be going with the reveal Fisto is Teela’s dad like had been rumoured for 2k2 He-Man.
I dig this news very much 🤓👌Both are perfect for their roles .. really hoping we get an awesome Sorceress costume- I don’t care what it looks like as long as it either pays some form of homage to the classic look or the 200X re-design.
