Deadline is now reporting that actress Camila Mendes has just been cast in the role of Teela in the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” movie from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films!
Camila Mendes is best known for the role of Veronica Lodge from the series Riverdale (a television show based on the characters of Archie Comics.)
Here is Deadline’s report:
"Camila Mendes (Riverdale) has landed the role of Teela in the forthcoming, live-action Masters of the Universe film from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, Deadline has learned. "Mendes stars opposite the previously announced Nicholas Galitzine, who plays He-Man. Her character, Teela, is a warrior who as Captain of Eternia’s Royal Guard, is responsible for protecting the royal family, especially Prince Adam aka He-Man."

I confess I never saw her before but I just watched this Vogue magazine video and I can see her as Teela. Sexy and strong! I think she is going to be amazing!

@gettinhighlander I’ll be in my bunk lol, (Crom if anyone gets that reference I’ll be happy).. She is smoking and a great actress. My wife and I were impressed with her in Riverdale that had we gone through with having a child Veronica was on the list of names. I’m actually starting to have hope this may actually happen..
I think this can work. I know there are going to be some complaining that she is not a natural redhead but a bottle of L’OREAL can fix that.

I guess with shooting “starting" in Jan, casting will start rolling out faster

Yeah she’s an adult, but if they indeed are trying to court SBC, then, I’d like a few more years on her.

She was funny in community and over the top in Glow…this might work.
I’d rather have a red head, but Hollywood is anti them in recent years. She is good looking at least. Hopefully, she can act the part well whether she wigs up or not.
Out of the four tested, she was probably the best choice.

I like the casting but I wish I knew why Hollywood has something against casting redheads for redhead parts.
Riverdale was pretty terrible so I’m hesitant to fully support this choice.

I was already thinking she had the eyebrows and nose for the Filmation version of Teela. Now this mockup proves it! I’m really excited about this casting choice. Hopefully the others will look just as great.
Daniel Benedict’s low budget fan film did a better job of casting Teela – did you see her??

Yeah, kinda stupid they did not picked Ashby; she was obviously into it. I could imagine her as a great Sorceress pick as well though.
If Amazon/MGM was going to cast a CW-tier actor, then I would have preferred Madelaine Petsch.

Interesting choice – Alison is a good actress and quite hot. I think she’ll vamp it up nicely as Evil-Lyn. Personally I think she has a look more fitting for Teela, but at 41 she’s way too old to play her.
I want Sydney Sweeney for She-Ra. She’s got the perfect look and age for it.
but not the face. She has boobs, thats it.
