Back in 2020, a joint production was secretly being worked on between DC Comics and IDW Publishing where the characters of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be transported into the world of Eternia for an epic TMNT & MOTU experience.
The project was ultimately canceled, but comic book artist Freddie E. Williams II revealed a window into this failed crossover allowing fans of both franchises to discover what may have been. (Read more about that HERE.)
But now it seems the Masters of the Universe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles full comic crossover has finally become a reality… with Dark Horse comics!
After doing art duties for the mini-comics from the “Turtles of Grayskull” Origins action figure line, Freddie E. Williams II took to social media today and revealed that he will be illustrating a four issue Dark Horse full comic miniseries for āTurtles of Grayskullā as well… written by the great Tim Seeley!
Here is the official solicitation for the first premiere issue per Dark Horse Comics:
UNIVERSE/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: TURTLES OF GRAYSKULL #1
When the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came across Krang and Shredder making a deal with some otherworldly ādemon-mageā named Skeletor, things got hella-weird and they ended up in ETERNIA! It turns out, when you mix Ultrom mutagen with demon magic you get a nasty purple poisonāand itās brought Eternia to the brink of chaos. So, Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey are teaming up with the Masters of the Universe to kick some blue boney butt. The only problem isā¦He-Man is missing in action.
Expands on the Masters of the Universe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle franchises.
Four issue series.

And special thanks to awesome community member @smitty-81 for the ‘heads up’. We’ll see you next time!
Great to see expanded media for the TOG line – that’s how you world-build.
Yeah it’s exciting to see this happening but the description sounds a lot like the mini comics we already have. Maybe they will have some minor differences hopefully they can be a bit more gritty and most importantly fill in the gaps from the mini comics.Ā

Freddie must be happy!
I was wondering if they would make a full-length comic book miniseries. Really looking forward to it!
Makes you wonder why Mattel decided to revisit the whole concept after cancelling it back in what – 2018?
@durendal what was TMNT doing back then? Compared to now with a move at did well enough to get a series.
@smitty-81 Yeah I suspect TMNT are hot again, so this a good opportunity to take advantage. Makes me wonder what the next MOTU crossover would be. GiJoe or Transformers? š
@he-metayer Transformers has been consistently hot for close to 20 years. It’s just a matter of getting two toy companies to play nice. But the Transformers line up has enough big cats and birds to do a crossover with very little effort.
@he-metayer Which reminds me – we haven’t heard squat about the Mattel/Hasbro collab since it was announced months ago…
@durendal Good point, I had forgotten about that!
Ā According to the Transformers websites, they are going to make some Transformers related hot wheels products. We have even seen some pics of some of it (not what you’d expect on some)
Ā
Is there a good Transformers website out there? I would be interested in checking it out.

There’s quite a few TWF (link posted above), the TF wiki, and the one I mostly go to: seibertron.com

I figured this would happen at some point. It was a matter of when, not if.
