What Is Your Choice For "Series Fauxnale"

A 'series fauxnale' is the trope used for an episode of a tv show or animation that is either set up to be a conclusion  in case it's cancelled and the writers get enough notice, or an episode perceived to tie up so many loose ends that it might as well be a finale to the show, yet the show goes on anyway.

We know He-Man didn't really have a conclusion in the 80s (until New Adventures of He-Man had one), and the 2002 and CG shows had passable endings but still left loose ends...so what would you qualify as a fauxnale in the original run?

I'll give you one example I came across when marathoning the old show

He-Man & The Masters of the Universe had "The Dragon Invasion", where Skeletor manages to invade Castle Greyskull and capture the Sorceress at last, He-Man rescues her and there is a final battle with Skeletor at Snake Mountain, with a moment where he could have let Skeletor die but spares him. Skeletor flees his lair afterwards and you could interpret that as him going into exile as the rest of his own team of evil masters had been rounded up and solidly defeated back at Grayskull

How about The Problem with Power where He-Man walks holding Teela into the sunset. It shows there is something romantic between them how he refuses to put her down even though she's fine and so many great things end with walking into the sunset.

Great question!

The Dragon Invasion is a great choice. So is He-Man and Teela heading into the sunset.

My selection may be a little unorthodox: Evilseed. To me the end is a perfect summation that yes there will always be evil you can't reason with, and yes, there will always be threats that will never stop, but the bad will never win... not as long He-Man and his friends are there to stop it. 🙂

I agree with He-Dad and a lot of others that The Problem with Power feels sort of like the series finale with He-Man carrying Teela and walking off into the sunset.

@firefly Yeah, for a long while I was actually convinced Problem With Power was the last one due to mis-information I read about it

How about the He-Man & She-Ra Christmas Special? It sees the yultide redemption of Skeletor and he defeats Horde Prime!

I love the Christmas Special, but have always been bugged by Hordak disappearing at the end.  Where did he go?

@firefly That is an excellent point. Where did Hordak go and why haven't I questioned this before? Watching Skeletor being overcome by the Christmas spirit on the telly must have been too overwhelming for me to notice.
