Okay, so I did this in he-man.org and ended up with close to half a million views! He-man.org was gracious enough to make my thread a 'sticky' so I didn't have to spend a lot of time scrolling around to look for it every time I wanted to answer a fans' post (Hint-hint, mods. ).

I'm open to answering any all questions about NA and every series I worked on as well as my almost five decades in the entertainment industry. For basic background, let's start with this: https://www.jackolesker.com

Many fans have been generous in their praise one the years and I'm glad I've brought happiness to so many. But I won't claim ever script and every move I've made in the industry over the years was a touchdown pass. I'm a controversial figure and I've taken my shots. When I make a fail or a gaffe, I accept responsibility for it, apologize if I need to, try not to make the same mistake in the future and move on. That said, I'm NOT taking responsibility for Skeletor's eyeballs in NA. That was the animators' choice, LOL!

I did a really fun podcast with Masterscast -- Episode 28 -- many years ago in which I cover my history with NA and some of my history in the industry. I believe the podcast was mentioned in an old post somewhere on this board. If someone would be kind enough to post it here I'd appreciate it.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love fans. As I've often said, "Writers, producers, directors and actors are nothing without fans" so I'm grateful to all of you. I look forward to fan interaction and will answer questions as quickly as I can, but be aware this last year has been the busiest and most successful in my 24/7 Productions' long history and it will be more of the same in 2024. So please be patient if I don't answers posts immediately.

For the record, I don't expect everyone to like NA or all of my work. All I ask is that our interactions are respectful and civil, with no cheap shots. So have at it and let's have fun.

And a couple little plugs: you can learn a lot about my history in the industry from my twice-weekly blog on my website -- https://www.jackolesker.com . And while you're there, hit Shop and buy a couple of signed mini-posters from the series I've worked on for yourself or someone you care about. Great Holiday present! Sorry for the commercials, but hey, if you don't push yourself, then who will?

Looking forward to interacting with fans here.

I have a question to ask you already Jack!

Have you seen the new Masterverse NA Skeletor figure that came out over the summer? If you did what did you think of it?

Well, I'm usually the last guy to be negative but if you want my honest opinion I think he looks too much like a pirate.  All he needs is a parrot on his shoulder. "Arrrrr, Crita.  Come over here, ya wench!"

Remember when Trap Jaw was dressed as a pirate once in the filmation cartoon? It all makes sense! 😂

Hi Jack.

Thank you for making yourself accessible to us fans. Your kindness is a highlight of our community.

I am sorry if you have answered this ad nauseam but my question is in reference to the eyes of Skeletor. Can you explain the thought process behind Skeletor's eyes and why you kept changing its look throughout the season?

I have to plead non-involvement.  Skeletor's eyes and all artwork was the responsibility of KKC&D Studios.  That said, I did review all storyboards of all episodes for Jetlag, but that's another story and a pretty funny one that I'll address in another post.

@theman I'm not saying you're responsible but did you ever inquire about it when you saw it and what did KKC&D say? I was thinking the thought process was maybe they were trying to make Skeletor look more menacing.

I look forward to your story!

Not trying to derail the thread here, or start any fights, but just wondering why people have an issue with the eyeballs? It never bothered me; it's hardly like the rest of the franchise is hyper-realistic.

Because of the production schedule, it was too late to do anything about it if I had wanted to.  Too, artists are very protective of their fiefdom do it's wise to give them a wide berth.  In fairness, they generally do the same when it comes to the written word in scripts.

Thank you for that, Owen, and also for your reviews of countless episodes in various incarnations of the MOTU franchise.  Anyone who is a MOTU fan and hasn't seen your reviews would surely enjoy them and I'll respectfully suggest you provides a link.  Your reviews of NA, while often scathing, were just as often spot on.

I've always felt the eyeballs issue, although I had nothing to do with it, was just subjective.  Personally, I never had a problem with it because I was trying to move toward a more Jack Nicholson vibe with Skelly in NA, unlike the scientists, which is an entirely different matter...  😉

Was the Teela who appeared in New Adventures meant to be She-Ra originally? I remember reading that somewhere and that that's the reason the design looks more like She-Ra than Teela.

A lot of fans had a problem with her new hair color.  I've always felt a woman has the prerogative to change her hair color any time she wishes to do so.

It was a contentious aspect but I personally dont have an issue with the eyes. If I could I only wanted to learn the artistic thought process behind the eyes as well as the thoughts behind white eyes with black pupils changing to black eyes with red pupils and finally the power-up change red eyes with black pupils. I didn't mean to cause a problem.

I can see that Jack Nicholson vibe now that you mentioned it. Thank you for your answer.

You're welcome and I certainly don't think you were trying to cause a problem.  I think the civil and respectful exchange of ideas and opinions, ever if we disagree, is something to be celebrated and embraced.

@asterstar, no I didn't think you were trying to cause a problem either! I'm just genuinely interested why - of all the various implausible things in the franchise - the eyeballs on NA Skeletor get so much hate. We're all good! 🙂

@theman, thank you for the plug - very kind of you, especially given I was, as you say, quite scathing of NA, particularly in its earlier stages. It's been a long time since I wrote those reviews now (well, comparatively - not as long as since you wrote the eps!) and I do regret some of the sharper comments I made: I think there were some points where I was rather unfair. I know that you always say you can take criticism, but I still want to apologise if I did at any time hurt your feelings.

As for a link - I did put one in my introduction to this site, but I haven't got round to doing a signature yet; once I do, I'll put one in there!
