(inspired by one of my favorite threads from he-man.org....now i am bringing this discussion to for eternia ! ♡✨️)
have you guys ever spotted any cool motu references/easter eggs in other media (like he-man being acknowledged in other cartoons, movies etc.)
to get us started, i've compiled a few of my favourites in this yt video (most of y'all may already be familiar with some, if not then i hope this compilation of motu love will put a smile on your face 🥰)
Stewie is seen playing with Man e faces in family guy.
In the movie Big with Tom Hanks there is some motu lying around Josh’s office. I can’t remember which ones though
@brasco you've got a good eye, brasco ! i didn't even know about those myself actually lol
of course, robot chicken is an absolute goldmine of television ! forever my favourite [adult swim] series ☺️ (the only reason i didn't mention it myself is because....well, their whole show is references lol plenty of wonderful he-man and she-ra ones.)
have you ever seen the eternian gym or the one with fakor at the royal party?
@adoralovely yes lol. I love them all. I’m a huge fan of Seth Green. I know there are more references, I just can’t think of them atm
@brasco i got you, here's a few i missed : 😅
1) a rather menacing (however flat) looking hordak can be seen in the background of south park's "imagination land" 3-parter. later, she-ra can be seen hurrying across the battlefield among a host of other famous 80's characters (including optimus prime)
2) in the family guy season 7 episode 15 "three kings", adam west's gang of henchmen included beastman and merman (both of whom the narrator mentions by name)
3) there's another moment in family guy where meg gifts peter a he-man action figure. i don't know/can't find the episode name as i discovered this moment through a yt short but i know it's one of the more recent episodes.
4) in the beavis and butthead episode "home delivery" (s07e21) the boys can be seen watching a he-man parody on tv. two muscular (and rather scantily clad) figures stare each other down on a rocky planet surface, stars and galaxies can be seen in the sky behind them as well as tall dark green castle. one of the two (the purple, more alien-looking one) taunts the other in a voice that's essentially mike judge's impression of alan oppenheimer's skeletor
@adoralovely I forgot all about that from the imagination land series. The last few you posted I’ve never heard/seen. Later on I’m going to scroll through YouTube and check them out. I just thought of another one from family guy(Seth Macfarlane is the poster child for anything 80’s)
Again this is from memory so I don’t remember what season or episode. Peter was talking to Lois about one of their neighbors packages and Peter goes “I bet there’s He-man’s in there” 😂That’s also a nod to eBay
@brasco you're bang on about seth macfarlane for sure, man wears his nostalgia on his sleeve that's right ! 😂
and yes, that moment always cracks me up. it's actually one of the references that i included in my video above. ;]
In season 4 of ‘Lucifer’, final episode, I think? Lucifer says ‘By the power of Grayskull.’
it’s not much but it made me blink and go back for a second time.
@stillyoungatheart thanks cringer ! 🤗 not even i knew of that one, well spotted !
that is possibly now one of my fav references because think of it like this, lucifer morningstar is immortal who's lived billions of years and seen many things......and he's a MOTU fan ! that really speaks to how COOL and influential MOTU is. <3
