@durendal Times have changed dude. Action figure tooling ain't pricey anymore. Any 3d sculpter can create something basic like a new origins model. They can do it real fast. Or modify an existing origins 3d model and do it faster. All you do is drag points with your mouse. No excuse for reusing anymore. Just change a little and people will stop their bitching.

 

The issue with tooling isn't so much the generation of the 3D model, or the 3D printed prototype, but the production of the actual metal tools/moulds needed in the factory. That's my understanding anyway. So even if the pipeline overall is becoming more digital, the actual making of the figure that ends up on the shelf is still the same as a decade ago.

 

I watched a tv special on how the master molds and molds are easier to make now for injection. Everything is cut with lasers and computers with cheaper materials and metals. Scott Neitlich's videos are outdated.
