There is a new Origins playset on the way! Yes, the "Trap-filled stronghold of terror"... The Evil Horde FRIGHT ZONE will finally be coming to the Masters of the Universe: Origins action figure line. Check out these images: Once a selection for "Eternia's Choice" back in September 2023... ...where fans had the power to choose the next Masters of the Universe crowdfunding project by voting among five different options... ....it looks like Mattel perhaps decided to mass produce the Fright Zone and (hopefully) avoid its original crowdfunding path. We will probably learn more about this during the Mattel Creations REVEALED…
We have the Power!
Sigh. I couldn't be less excited.
Sure, they've added some Filmation touches but really...its an unappealing design and always has been. And now it's a weird mashup between two different takes on the Horde.
But something tells me other people will be happy with it.
Great update on the original, it looks awesome! The creature is a little underwhelming but overall I like the new features added to the set.
Now, all we need is the Slime Pit and we'll have completed all vintage MOTU playsets in Origins!
After the utter freak out to the Snake Lair are you surprised Mattel isn't trying any substantial upgrades or redesigns? Fandom ruins everything.
@mrhootiedean how did the fandom ruin that? They completely redesigned what everyone voted for. That’s on them
@disneyboy Agreed, it's totally fucking boring, just like the vintage one was. Unbelievable how many people crave this junk.
It was really time for this piece to become a reality. That's why I'm open to any compromise when it comes to this product.

I do not like how over-engineered it is. In order to display the backside, the floor plate is moved to the back, the sides hinge backward, and the prison cell is removed and replaced turned around. All of that to create an underwhelming display, instead of simply adding design and/or play features to the backside of the playset.
And now, unlike Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain, the Fright Zone cannot be viewed or interacted with from both sides at once. You can open Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain, and one person can be "on the inside" of the playset, and another person can be "on the outside" of the playset. But with this Fright Zone design, only one side can ever be viewed or interacted with at one time. It is either the outside of the playset, or the inside of the playset, but never both at once. It is so spectacularly dumb, I do not understand it.
