Back in the Summer of 2022, we began posting occasional trivia posts on our social media pages titled “Trivia from Eternia”.
If you happened to miss some of these posts do not fret, because now we are collecting these trivia tidbits into single volumes that you will be able to read here. And who knows, perhaps even the most die-hard Masters of the Universe fans might just learn something new about this fantasy IP we love.
Here we go!
#1 through 10!
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA – #001
Did you know that in the 1983 Filmation series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”, He-Man was sometimes summoned like the DC Comics superhero Batman via his Bat-Signal? But instead of a symbol of a bat shown in the sky, He-Man’s iron cross was projected.
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA – #002
Mer-Man has kids? 🤷 Did you know that in the Filmation “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” episode “Fraidy Cat“, Orko and Cringer were chased by creatures that appeared like small Mer-Man children, which Mer-Man referred to as “his little ones”?
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA – #003
Did you know that “For Eternia!”, the iconic line shouted by He-Man in “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” was first spoken by his 1983 counterpart in the Filmation “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” episode “The Time Corridor”.
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA – #004
In Masters of the Universe: Revelation Episode 3 “The Most Dangerous Man in Eternia”, a Coridite Crystal was used to reinforce He-Man’s handcuffs… the same type of crystal that was used to build He-Man’s power harness (and a resource that was mined by the Widgets!)
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA – #005
In Masters of the Universe: Revelation Episode 3 “The Most Dangerous Man in Eternia”, the headless skeletal remains found at the gateway to Subternia once belonged to an ancient mage, guarding its entrance.
The armor and garb of the headless mage had a strong similar aesthetic to the Masters of the Universe character The Faceless One.
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA – #006
“Masters of the Universe: Revelation” is the first Masters of the Universe animated series to feature the legendary three towered Eternia playset.
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA – #007
Three Turbodactyls, based on the 1987 “Powers of Grayskull” vintage toy, can be seen briefly in the sky of Preternia in Masters of the Universe: Revelation Episode 5 “The Forge at the Forest of Forever”
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA – #008
According to the 1987 Marvel Star comic adaptation of the “Masters Of The Universe” live-action film, the first Eternians were revealed to be earthlings! They were NASA Astronauts from Earth, “shipwrecked” on Eternia in the year 2221!
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA – #009
Duncan swore his allegiance to Jitsu? The crest tattoo on Duncan’s shoulder seen in “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” was inspired by the armor set of the 1986/87 vintage Masters of the Universe King Randor action figure… which was actually a reuse and repaint of Jitsu’s armor.
TRIVIA FROM ETERNIA – #010
Julie was the daughter of the Sorceress? Masters of the Universe (1987) live-action film actors Christina Pickles and Courtney Cox were actually reunited as mother and daughter in the popular television series “Friends”.
Well that’s it! We’ll see you next time…. with a Volume Two!
I’m happy they did away with the bat signal knockoff. There was no need to turn He-Man into a superhero pastiche when it was already overflowing with fantasy originality. The secret identity was enough.
If those are Mer-Man’s kids is there a babby momma? How do they reproduce? I wanna know!
@he-dad I assume like most fish.
Also I disagree with number 9 Duncan’s tattoo is different enough from Jitsu’s armor it be something different.
😂
People are going to yell at me but I like the idea of the first Eternians being from Earth.
😁
And how do fish do it?
