Seeing the She-Ra pin officially licensed from Dreamworks while He-Man and Skeletor is officially licensed from Mattel is a constant reminder that Mattel made one of the biggest toy blunders of all time and that’s counting passing on Star Wars.

@therealbatman The Filmation library was acquired by Dreamworks in 2012 and Universal acquired Dreamworks in 2016 so it is neither of those.
It is the year from which the copyright protection for that particular work officially arises.
They started making the pin in 2020?
Most likely. The design needs to be approved by the licensor, the prototype needs to be approved by the licensor, the first production sample needs to arrive from the overseas manufacturer and be approved by the licensee and the licensor, etc. Some of those steps will need to be repeated if there are revisions or errors. It can take a long time to bring something from conception to market.
