Who is Zodac’s right-hand man in “Masters of the Universe: Revolution”?

In one of the pre-credit stingers at the end of the 2024 Netflix series “Masters of the Universe: Revolution”, Zodac welcomes Lyn of Zalesia to become a Cosmic Enforcer. Zodac explains to Lyn that she not only brought balance to herself, but she was instrumental in bringing balance to the Universe.

Lyn of Zalesia, Cosmic Enforcer

During this momentous occasion, on the right hand of Zodac, sits another Cosmic Enforcer…

…with what appears to be some curious growth extending from the bottom of his helmet.

At first glance, that growth can give off an appearance similar to the character of Davy Jones from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise.

Who me?

But those are not tentacles we see. Upon closer inspection one can detect a human lip, and below that lip is a beard next to the sides of a long mustace, and long hair.

Someone needs a trim

So who is this mysterious character? Read on!

In the episode “Golden Disks of Knowledge” from the 1983 classic Filmation series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”, someone or something began haunting Castle Grayskull.

If Castle Grayskull wasn’t spooky enough…

It turned out to be just a benign haunting, an unorthodox effort to simply get the attention of the Sorceress. Using the Mystic Mirror of Castle Grayskull, the heroes learned it was the criminal Zanthor behind the haunting.

Zanthor in astral form

Long ago Zanthor was the former keeper of the Golden Disks of Knowledge. Created to store the knowledge of the wisest men and women in the universe, these Golden Disks were placed in Zanthor’s possession to keep safe, preventing the knowledge from ever landing in evil hands.

I can’t read this, can you?

Then, in a moment of weakness, Zanthor gave the disks to Skeletor with the promise of great power in return.

Skeletor, of course, reneged on that deal and the Council of the Wise banished the criminal Zanthor to the Phantom Dimension… to live out his days as an apparition.

Zanthor understood his punishment to be just though, recognizing Skeletor had become a devastating threat thanks to the knowledge the Lord of Destruction had learned from those disks.

Still, Zanthor wanted to atone for his crime, and appealed to the only original member of the Council of the Wise remaining to do so. That member was Zodac.

Nah, I’ll pass

Lucky for Zanthor’s sake, He-Man was the one who believed in second chances, and that Zanthor deserved an opportunity to redeem himself.

So with the help of He-Man, Battle Cat and Orko… Zanthor stole the Golden Disks of Knowledge back from Skeletor and returned them to Zodac.

Home sweet home

A powerful lesson of redemption is learned by Zodac, and with nothing expected in return, Zodac invites Zanthor to be free of his punishment and join him as a new Cosmic Enforcer.

And that Cosmic Enforcer to Zodac’s right in “Masters of the Universe: Revolution” is Zanthor, a person who can deeply relate to Lyn’s personal journey of growth, from villian to Cosmic Enforcer, perhaps most of all.

And that’s it! Stay tuned all month long more “Masters of the Universe: Revolution” References and Easter Eggs. We’ll see you next time!
