Mattel has officially released the new crowdfunded Eternia playset Masters of the Universe Origins minicomic “Battlefield Eternia ”, courtesy of Mattel’s packaging and graphic designer Roy Juarez.
Continuing the story told in the vintage 1986 miniature comic titled “The Ultimate Battleground” that was packaged with the vintage Etenia playset, this new story written by Joshua Sky with art by Joseph John Zacate takes place 40 years later.
Check it out:
Not everyone could afford to crowdfund the Eternia playset, so it is nice that Mattel shared this comic with those that couldn’t. We’ll see you next time!
And my Quest comes to an end…
whats up with that art?
I’m not sure, but it looks like the art they used in the VeeFriends mini comic, it works for that silly story. I hope they don’t use this for the upcoming VC figures.
It is not poor art. The artist is quite talented. This is just stylized art.
The art style is not the one most of them are used to, tough some panels looks rather silly I most admit.
I’m glad they posted it for free, because this comic made no sense. I thought the pages were out of order.
I understand the art style is a choice, but it’s not my cup of Teela, either.
@kreditor If you look at the artist’s other work in the brand it’s stylistically different. For instance he did that brilliant Motherboard poster. The artist must have felt this style suited the comic. Based on the reception here he misjudged.
@elder I applaud him for trying something different.
