Back in 2022, a skirmish game titled “Masters of the Universe: Battleground” was released in Europe by Archon Studios.
A skirmish game usually refers to a tactical game played generally with miniatures where opposing forces are not whole armies, but small groups versus groups.
Well now it appears that Archon Studios obtained the rights to make “Masters of the Universe: Battleground” available in North America as well, plus Canada, Australia and New Zealand… and launched a new corresponding crowdfunding campaign several days ago.
Archon Studios reached out to For Eternia about their current and successfully backed Gamefound crowdfunding campaign (which can be found HERE), that offer lots of stretch goals, promos and expansions to MOTU: Battleground, ending the 29th of May.
But if crowdfunding is not your thing, icv2.com has just reported that Archon Studios will release the Masters of the Universe: Battleground skirmish game “to retailers in North America after crowdfunding on Gamefound.”
So fans in the United States that are into these type of strategic games can rejoice because they will finally be able to join in on the “Masters of the Universe: Battleground” experience. (For Eternia is not affiliated with Archon Studios nor their crowdfunding campaign).
May 20th Update / Correction:
There has been an update per icv2.com in the form of a correction:
“Archon Studio, which released Masters of the Universe: Battleground in Europe in 2022, will NOT release the Masters of the Universe skirmish game to retailers in North America after crowdfunding on Gamefound.
Note: Archon corrected its answer to our question about retail distribution in North America, which it had originally answered, “Yes, of course – after it gets into the hands of backers.” Archon’s new answer to that question is, “We don’t have a licence to distribute it directly to retailers [in North America]. – ed,
We’ll see you next time.
This one is really cool!
Errata corrige: no, it is not. I’m very new to the crowd founded games mechanism, so after I read some more details it is in my opinion absolutely not affordable. The costs are extremely high, even the cheapest version.
