* POSSIBLE SPOILERS * Back when the "Masters of the Universe" Movie was very close to going into production for Netflix with The Nee Brothers set to direct and actor Kyle Allen set to star as Prince Adam/He-Man.... Actor Kyle Allen ...there was an rumor in regards to what the screenplay written by the Nee Brothers and David Callaham had in store for audiences in the beginning of the movie (and it involved King Randor.) Major Possible Spoiler Warning Again: The rumor suggested the "Masters of the Universe" movie starts out with a huge battle on Eternia. It would be…
We have the Power!
on one hand, i do kinda like this. an epic battle means the movie begins on eternia and it also establishes keldor as the vilian (which is important to do early on) it also gives a really good reason for young adam to be sent to earth.
but on the other hand, i am not sure if i want randor to die so early in the new movie-verse. i do really love him as a character and it'd be a shame to lose him so early. it means we'd never get to see much of king randor in the movie continuity.
i like the idea of the battle tho and seeing keldor wreak some havoc (heehee) as his handsome blue-self before he officially becomes skeletor. plus, it would be like the first episode of my childhood 200x series - just on a HUGE scale and budget. i just think they can do it WITHOUT killing off randor, i think you can still send adam to earth for protection without killing off randor.
@caliban oh yeah, i get want you mean. with the story opening on eternia before going to earth. the killing off of king randor part reminds me of the script for the unmade 2008 movies "grayskull : masters of the unverse", in which randor loses his life protecting adam in a big battle with keldor and co at the end of act 1, before adam is evacuated out of eternos city for his own protection. in that script, adam also returns after he grows up.
@adoralovely I never read it but I heard it happened in another script.
With the 87 movie it starts with the end of the war and Skeletor has won and He-Man has to hightail out of Castle Grayskull to Earth to survive. Do we ever hear anything about He-Man's parents? Nope, but the King could be dead just the same.
Maybe the opening battle is where we'll see the many heroic and evil warriors confirmed to be in the cast...and then they'll never show up again
@durendal More seriously, I dare hope they show a little more ambition than that script-wise, because the chances of this being their last attempt for a long time (if ever) are pretty high. If history has taught us anything, when our beloved license faces Hollywood's eternal skepticism, it is that it definitely has to work harder to get some relative attention.
