Good question! Monologue I guess? I am not really sure... 😄 And thanks, I'll never stop singing, much to my wife's chagrin!

Love the discussion. It is so funny that you mentioned the A Ha song... we were just listening to that in the car per my kids' request. They know it as the "Donkey Kong" song bc it plays in the Super Mario movie when they are driving around in Karts like Miami Vice 😀

I think you're on to something about the types of movies coming out and the people who go to see them- thinking of the movies I saw in the theater last year, I saw Mario, Barbie, and a special showing of Die Hard around Christmas time. I hope that theaters don't go away, but maybe there are less of them and they are more of the boutique experience. Our favorite is the Alamo; they do special promotions and menus to go with some of the bigger movies (I'm hoping for a cool MOTU-inspired cocktail in the future :))
My husband and I lament all the time how movie theaters, bowling alleys, arcades with their quarter games and cheap snacks are unfortunately just a thing of the past. We can't go to a bowling alley or movie theater without being assigned a server and offered gourmet nachos and pizza... and spending less than $80 per experience for our family of four. I try really hard not to be sour about this lol.... but resistance is futile.

I love it! 😄 That is what is so great about that A-Ha song being used and all of the 80's nostalgia creatives seem to be pulling from. It doesn't always work, but sometimes it gets our kids loving something we used to love!

Bowling alleys, arcades, even billiards/pool halls. You brought up some destinations that for context is just amazing to reflect on in this conversation! Do you remember discount movie theaters? For a dollar or two people could watch second run movies. This was perfect for kids. They would ride their bikes to the movies, with no supervision no less, and catch a movie with their friends. "Just be home by dark" mom would always say! What times. 😄

The movie and a meal experience is too rich for my blood! I just feel fortunate I grew up in the time that we did. I would love that for our children of course, but for better or worse, the world is a different place now. To stop times from changing feels like negotiating with gravity and we sadly can't negotiate with gravity.
