The more I read and see about him, the more I am convinced of the correctness of the director's choice in entrusting him with the delicate task of being the embodiment of "the most powerful man in the universe".
what nic stated about masculinity and how the upcoming film's going to explore the concept of masculinity really struck a cord with me.
i'm a woman but i've always been a huge supporter of masculinity and advocate for men's mental health and well-being. i always viewed adam/he-man as a superb representation of masculinity at it's best.
as we see in all iterations of MoTU, adam is always presented as kind, gentle and loving young man. he has great respect for his elders, for women, his community. he has good manners, he's a devote animal lover with a deep appreciation for the arts and literature. as he-man, he's chivalrous, selfless and always uses his strength to protect first and foremost, rather than fight. he has a voice that's advisory and comforting, not so much commanding, that makes you feel safe.
these days, men (particular young boys) NEED a man like he-man as their role model now more than ever. i think this movie has the potential to be something really special and inspiring for boys.
