I'm here for it.  Most of the DC Animated movies are top notch, so I'm really looking forward to it.

I don't understand the character designs at all. The thick exterior lines are such a clunky choice. Flash really looks weird.

I just don't see the point in this without decades of familiar characters to root for. How many films are actually part of the continuity that's being affected here?

The animated universe. Probably. It has a big amount of movies and AFAIK several of them are connected; likely even better then the DCEU (...which is a very low bar; I know 😛 ). I'm not that versed in DC animation though so I cannot tell for sure how that COIE plays into it.

That beeing said: the reason for the 80s COIE existence and success in the comics was a to be a filter for a reboot of the main DC timeline for the decades to come and give a heroic farewell to some characters/timelines from decades past. It had a real lasting impact for everything DC comics back then. I do not see the same relevance in the animated COIE; especially since they seemd to have already releasing reboots/resets for years now with movies like "Superman - Man of Tomorrow".

Wow...

This is such an influential story that literally changed the landscape of the DC Universe forever.

It was also one of the very first massive crossover events in any comic book to that point... and one that had serious consequences and truly frightening threats of world-ending proportions.

I love this series for many reasons... the consolidation of the DCU, the birth of new characters, the retooling / cleaning-up of many origin stories, and the multiple, life-long changes to DC resulting from the final battle between Kal-L and the Anti-Monitor.

However, the biggest reason I love Crisis so much is because it set up the events that would lead to Infinite Crisis and two of my all-time favorite books: The Lightning Saga and Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds!

The MCU may be basking in the glory of their "Multiverse," but DC did it way before it was the cool thing to do - and they did it much better.

I haven't been all that impressed with DC's animated adaptations of their other big titles like The Dark Knight Returns, Year One, and Killing Joke... but overall, they have more hits than misses. I truly hope that this turns out to be an incredible animated version of one of the greatest DC stories ever told.

Then I hope it leads to adaptations of Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis! 😝
