How would you guys feel about having Origins lines for these two lines? And how would you go about making them? Should they be their own lines or part of the MOTU Origins line?

Personally I want both these lines in Origins form factor more than the turtles or the cartoon collection they're going with.

I would include the New Adventures figures in the MOTU Origins line and I would make them in the vintage muscle man form factor though. I think a lot of them would translate well into that line and they'd look a lot more like MOTU figures if they weren't skinny like the vintage figures. Also the Skeletor playset from that line was very cool and I would love to see it remade. And maybe even do the unproduced Mara and Darius figures.

As for Princess of Power I think it would be cool if they made it into its own toy line for the girls aisle. That way they wouldn't have to butch it up for MOTU. Though i would prefer if they do away with the soft goods and rooted hair so they could still fit in the MOTU line. I would also make them so their parts are interchangeable with the female MOTU figures still.

You're absolutely right - all the NA characters should be released on the standard beefy Origins buck and on the vintage style exploding rocks cardback. That would undo the cardinal mistake Mattel made back in '89 when they launched NA as a reboot of MOTU but in a different scale and buck than the vintage line. Bizarre decision.

And at this point, I think POP probably needs to be its own separate line on its own vintage style POP cardback, but still using the all-unifying Origins buck. The problem is that if POP gets folded under the main vintage collection Origins umbrella, we'll never even get to all the main characters, never mind anything beyond that. They've only released ONE POP figure in Origins, and that was 3 freaking years ago. Just pitiful.

I concur! And hopefully these lines mean we can see Origins continue for another 3 or 4 years.

I like your thinking.

@durendal I would like to see Origins come up with an all new card design. Something that could reflect all the iterations of MOTU including PoP, NA and CGI.

@durendal Honestly if you give those NA figures the muscular bucks and fur trunks they'd be no more foreign to the line than Man-At-Arms or Fisto.

I would love if PoP had its own line but I don't know if its popular enough. If they ever do an Origins version of PoP I would like if their cloth accessories and rooted hair are all molded plastic instead though. And to give them more weapons as most of the figures didn't come with any weapons. I would also add the Butterfly Woman figures to the line as well as characters like Scorpia and Octavia to flesh out the line more.

@smitty-81 I always felt it was a missed opportunity that they did the CGI figures as their own line. It would have been a lot cooler if it were an Origins subline with same articulations and the same swappable parts feature.

@herapop nah, the CGI show and toy line was for younger fans that usually should not have toys with small parts.

@herapop yes it would have to be its own line. Too many characters for a subline. The rulers of the sun sold fairly well with most of us not knowing/remembering too much about it. Slap a motu label on them and they’ll sell. So instead we get a stranger things figure no one asked for

@smitty-81 Origins is technically a kids line too. It just seems redundant to have two lines in the same scale. I didn't buy any of the CGI figures even though I like the designs but the articulation was not it.

@herapop technically all toy lines are "for kids" but toy companies use a sort of code. "Younger fans", older collectors" stuff like that.
