@smitty-81 I guess so, ever since Classics established that there have been many Eternian champions in history who have held the power over the eons, not just He-Man...

@durendal I'm not well versed in Classics lore. Weren't all the previous champions He-Man's ancestors?

@smitty-81 In Classics, the Power Sword (properly called the Sword of He) was split in two and hidden away to wait for its prophecied user. Throughout the centuries, various people were appointed as guardians to watch over the sword, these people became known as He-Men. We never got a complete list, but Vikor, Wun-Dar, and Oo-Lar (who was the original mini-comic He-Man made into a new character) were some of them.

It isn't clear if they actually used the Sword or just guarded it, but Revelation seemed to push the idea that they had access to the power. And of course, sharing power was a big deal in the CGI cartoon.

@chrisa is that all, I already knew that much. Did Classics ever do an "official" He-Family tree?

I came up with one but I started with Oo-Larr as the farthest back, but I recall seeing that officially King Grayskull is the oldest relative.

@smitty-81 There was never a full "He-family tree". King Grayskull was He-Man and She-Ra's distant ancestor(5000 years previous), but there wasn't a direct line that was ever published.

None of the previous "He-Men" were ever stated to be related to Adam and Adora either.

(FWIW, in the post-toyline additions to the Classics canon, He-Ro married King Grayskull's daughter and is thus also properly related to Adam and Adora.)

@chrisa You make a good point - I'm not sure it was ever stated if any of the guardians of the sword prior to Adam had access to or used the power of Grayskull, or whether they just protected it. Anyone remember?

Thoughts:
  • This is hands down one of the best Origins mini comics.
  • I like the inclusion of Modulock, the joke about having two heads and that they don't say it's Hordak, but we all know it is.
  • Baddrah's ship is a fist.
  • The Pixel Dan reference is name only but still fun.
  • Their rivalry starts in this mini comic but it would have to take place over a few months considering they travel to at least five different planets.
  • The tragic back stories only help to show that both of the are assholes and that Skeletor was playing the long game, for some reason.
  • Skeletor's line for the 200X cartoon is used.
  • Over all this seems more like a VC mini comic, it's not what we typically get for the CC mini comics.

@smitty-81 Yeah It's interesting that the title is Masters of the Universe, instead of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe that the other CC comics have.

@he-metayer I noticed that too but then checked my other CC mini comics and the two of them dropped He-Man from the title.

Some how it just clicked with me. The Two-Bad mini comic uses the word "hell" I know it's not much but it is still considered by many a "bad word"

Did you see, Mondo and Dark Horse are teaming up to make a Mini Comic for Scare Mare?

Because there's two Turtles of Grayskull Funko Pops, I decided tonight was a good night to finally add galleries to the Funko page I made on Wiki Grayskull, and in the process I'm posting a pic of the Scare Mare & Scare Glow Funko Pop and find that Scare Mare doesn't link to an existing page.

Googling I find that Mondo is announcing TODAY (yesterday now) that they are doing Scare mare and it will come with a Mini Comic. Neat.

@he-dad Thanks! I totally missed it.

The comic has a page on Wiki Grayskull now, and the character will within the hour. Just uploading a few more pics.

@smitty-81 Two-Bad mini comic is a fun story with cool artwork, but like many of the VC comics, it’s so crammed full of stuff, and both text and image details are sooo tiny in the printed version.

Should have read it here in the screen, looks much better here, where I can zoom in nicely!

It’s like it’s created for a larger print size. (Or for the screen). Not really for this tiny size. If there’s ever a new mini-comic collection, some of these will be so much more pleasant to read and really shine.

@cosmic It's a pretty solid mini comic indeed. I found it refreshing that for once none of the heroic warriors appeared in it - not even He-Man! I'd love to see lots more stories like this that explore the rich world and many characters of MOTU without always falling into the standard plotline. Very good art work as well, but nothing particularly Filmationy about it, as if it had been created for a vintage style Two Bad instead, which makes me wonder if that was the original plan before they changed it to be a cartoon collection release instead. I'd like to see the upcoming VC Two-Bad come with some of the accessories shown in the comic, like Tuvar's helmet, Baddrah's duster, and the guns. It would be such a disappointment if he only comes with the boring-ass shield the original came with. Do better, Mattel.

And how about a Prince Pixlor figure?? He's got a pretty eye catching design, more anime style than traditional MOTU, like a bizarre mash up of the early Prince Adam concept art where he wore a fedora, Songster from the Power Tour, and a random Jojo's Bizarre Adventure character. Plus he's a brand new independent villain! What's not to love? I'd love to know more however why Skeletor put out a hit on him...

I'm hoping somebody posts the comic here. I can't afford Mondo and if I could I'm inches away from a divorce so I better not. 😂

Cartoon Collection Wave 6 or wave 20 over all.

Thoughts:

  • This one is awful
  • They just jump into the story
  • It's kind of randomly a sequel to the vintage episode "The Games"
  • It's really odd having Clamp Champ and Stinkor in this and I don't car of either of the designs
  • The back has the same cross-sale as the last wave
