Beast Man. Stratos. Mer-Man. The world of Eternia has always contained an array of visually stunning humanoid beings among its cornucopia of strange beasts and monsters. These humanoid creatures are not human of course, but contain similar humanoid characteristics that resemble those of a human… such as two eyes, two arms and walking upright on two legs.
To bring these humanoid creatures to life in a new live-action “Masters of the Universe” Movie, it can definitely be accomplished with practical effects (versus digitally) if the right creative talent is in place. Fortunately, it seems the word of Eternia has acquired that right talent. We have learned that Prosthetic Makeup Artist Barrie Gower has joined the crew.
Founders of the effects company BGFX with his wife Sarah, Barrie Gower has created award winning cutting edge makeup effects from old age make-ups to realistic likeness bodies and creatures.
With credits ranging across both movies and film, Barrie Gower has created amazing creatures using prosthetics in productions like Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness, The Witcher, House of Dragons and The Last of Us. Here is just a small sample of his work:
We can’t wait to see what Barrie Gower does with his prosthetic makeup talents in “Masters of the Universe”!
Filming for “Masters of the Universe” is reportedly slated to begin January 2025 with the movie itself scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 5th, 2026.
We’ll see you next time!
Practical is the only way to go.
It can’t be all practical. They have to erase Skeletor’s nose.
@asterstar Do you remember the Red Skull before they had computers? It looked very bad.
You said it. At least with Skeletor they tried to make it look like his nose was missing.
@brain77 Looking at strawberry licorice man is making me hungry
It won’t be nearly as practical as I’d want it to be, but! It very well could be practical enough to make key things work…like Skelly…who is NOT going to be that joker dude…I put my foot down. Not him
@mungosmungo8694 I guess bro you are not going to see Leto in that new Tron movie then?
@he-dad nope!
BUT!
And this is strictly to be fair, I didn’t like the first two Teon movies, and working the second Tron was purely idiotic.
So, me not seeing his Tron, has nothing to do with him. Strictly a coincidence.
Has either he or Cohen confirmed being in it? I mean I’m not too worried he could pull it off but personally I think SB Cohen would be the better choice.
Negative. Nothing is confirmed.
I can get behind SBC, he will have amazing delivery.
Leto might be able to pull the look off, but I don’t have confidence in the delivery.
Though, we don’t even know what version of skeletor they are going for…
This man has an amazing pedigree. He even worked on the Potter movies.
