Mattel CEO briefly mentions ”Masters of the Universe” Movie in Quarterly Earnings Call

Mattel Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ynon Kreiz briefly mentioned the new “Masters of the Universe” movie coming from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films during a Third Quarter 2024 Earnings Conference Call this past Wednesday for investors.

While net sales was down for Mattel 4% compared to this time last year (due to a Barbie slump offset by a Hot Wheels bump), Mattel feels they are heading into the holiday season in decent shape and have plenty of exciting things in their future… one of them being Masters of the Universe.

Highlighting their effort to expand entertainment offerings with their brands, Ynon Kriez briefly mentioned He-Man’s next trip to the silver screen at the top of their list of highlights, above Matchbox and View-Master movies that are also currently in development. Here is what Kriez listed first:

"Masters of the Universe with Amazon MGM in pre-production; worldwide theatrical release June 5, 2026."

While we were hoping for more information than what Kreiz provided, we are always happy to hear “Masters of the Universe” being mentioned positively by Mattel’s CEO.

Filming for “Masters of the Universe” is reportedly slated to begin January 2025 with the movie itself scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 5th, 2026.

We’ll see you next time!
