Born on December 26, 1971, the 53 year old actor cast as Skeletor in the new “Masters of the Universe” Movie was mostly 12 years old when the Filmation cartoon “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” first began airing on television in 1983.
And while so many kids around the world fell in love with that cartoon series that year, apparently, so did Jared Leto!
When Jared attended the 45th Brit Awards last month in London honoring the best of British and international music, not only did the Evil Lord of Destruction actor reveal he was a fan of the classic He-Man cartoon… but he said it was one of his absolute favorite things in the world. Check it out:
INTERVIEWER: How are you feeling about being at the Brits?
JARED LETO: Well I'm happy to be here. I'm actually in London for two months.
INTERVIEWER: Oh nice, what are you here for?
JARED LETO: I'm making a film called "Masters of the Universe".
INTERVIEWER: Oh yes! Okay yeah!
JARED LETO: It's really fun because when I was a kid it was one of my... my absolute favorite things in the world was to watch He-Man.
INTERVIEWER: Yes!
JARED LETO: So.I get to play Skeletor.
INTERVIEWER: You’re not Skeletor!
JARED LETO: Yeah...
INTERVIEWER: That is so iconic! I grew up with the same cartoon. I love Skeletor!
JARED LETO: Yeah I love Skeletor. So it's been really fun.
It is great to know our new Skeletor actor was such a fan of Masters of the Universe, just like us!

Filming for “Masters of the Universe” is currently underway with the movie scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 5th, 2026.

Genuine question: why are you pretending this man isn’t an absolutely disgusting human being? He sent his costars used condoms and anal beads, and was objectively the single worst Joker in batman history. The man is a terrible actor, a terrible person, and literally who cares that he used to watch He-Man? *I* used to watch He-Man, and I’ve NEVER sent a used condom to anyone, ever. Seriously – this man is absolutely disgusting, and so is anyone that supports him.

I just face palmed when the blonde lady just spent that time kissing Leto’s butthole. She sounds so diengenous when she said that she loved Motu and Skeletor. This is why I hate people in Hollywood circles.
I hope he can pull off the roll. He definitely wasn’t my first choice. But he has pulled out some decent performances before. Minus the suicide squad. The Snyder cut version of him in that alternate future was way better. I am just hoping Skeletor is written in such a way similar to the comics or the 2002 series of being a strategic mage.
