Some “Masters of the Universe” fans may have already heard that there will be several stunning “holy grail” pieces of original MOTU concept art going up for auction this May.

Illustrated by the late, legendary Mark Taylor (whom is considered by many as the father of He-Man) and stunning illustrations in their own right, these nine pieces of conceptual artwork is also truly historic… and was instrumental in the development & creation of the core “Masters of the Universe” figures.
Here are all nine of the original pieces of concept art going up for auction:

If you are interested in bidding and possibly become caretakers of these important pieces of “Masters of the Universe” history, you can follow the gallery HERE at Heritage Auctions.
Truly magnificent.
And if you would like to learn more about Mark Taylor, be sure to check our partner @battleramblog a.k.a. Adam’s excellent interview with Mark (and his wife Rebecca) HERE.
We’ll see you next time.
AJ you are correct in calling buyers “caretakers" instead of owners. These are historic pieces of art that need to be preserved properly. The winning bidders will be custodians that better take it upon themselves to train in all the ways to properly display or store priceless art.
Well, the vintage action figures were very faithful to his concept designs. That’s very cool! Pity there’s no HD version of such concept art!
Perhaps this art will be purchased by a fan willing to scan it in high definition. It is a pity the art is leaving the Taylor family. They must need the money.
That’s what I was thinking too. About the fan who will puchase them all of just one… I don’t know about his/her willingness to share. I’m not optimistic.
