Evil Warriors unite!
The Hollywood Reporter has just announced the casting of four major roles in the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” movie from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films: SKELETOR, TRAP JAW, TRI-KLOPS and GOAT MAN!
Yes Skeletor and three of his henchman will be played by no one other than actors Jared Leto (Skeletor), Sam C. Wilson (Trap Jaw), Hafthor Bjornsson (Goat Man) and Kojo Attah (Tri-Klops).
Here is the official report:
The list of villains cast for Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films’ live action take on Masters of the Universe now includes Jared Leto, Sam C. Wilson, Hafthor Bjornsson and Kojo Attah.
Leto will play Skeletor, Wilson is to fill the role of Trap Jaw, Bjornsson will play Goat Man and Attah nabbed the role of Tri-Klops. They join Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Skeletor’s second-in-command.
Previously announced hero roles include Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela and Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms.
While most people know Jared Leto, the other three actors are less well known. Here is some additional info:
Hafthor Bjornsson (Goat Man)
Hafthor Bjornsson, who will be playing Goat Man, is an Icelandic professional strongman who is widely regarded as one of the greatest strength athletes of all time. Hafthor has acted as well, most notably in “Game of Thrones”.
Sam C. Wilson (Trap Jaw)
Sam C. Wilson who will play Trap Jaw is a professional actor who’s may be most well known for his roles in “Dodger” and “House of the Dragon” Season 2.
Kojo Attah (Tri-Klops)
Kojo Attah, who will play Tri-Klops, also is a professional actor who has stared movies like “Supacell” and “Wrath of Man”
And now that Jared Leto has been officially cast as Skeletor in the New “Masters of the Universe” Live-Action Movie, we wonder if part of that performance will be playing the role of Keldor.
Filming for “Masters of the Universe” is reportedly slated to begin this January 2025 with the movie itself scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 5th, 2026.
Thanks to the amazing community member @adam_prince-of-eternia for the ‘heads up’.
Wow! We’ll see you next time!
It’s like I said before. Everyone shits on Leto but I see him as a damn good actor. He’ll make a good eccentric Skeletor. Now the other three jokers I know nothing about.
As I said before I hated his Joker, but I thought his performance in Haunted Mansion was a good villain. If played along those lines it could work for Skeletor.
Fair enough.
Damn it!
Goat Man? I don’t remember that figure when I was a kid. That man is massive. Maybe they meant Beast Man?
@brain77 MOTU is more than the toys you grew up with. Stop gatekeeping.
@smitty-81 Who is gatekeeping? I just asked a question.
@brain77 the general attitude of your post suggest that if it’s not vintage, it’s no good, which is gatekeeping.
@smitty-81 You’re being like a jerk to me. I thought it was a typo. I thought they meant Beast Man. I never knew about Goat Man until now.
@brain77 strengthen your resolve Brian. I was just pointing out the attitude of your post, the phrasing, the words you chose to use made it sound like you were gatekeeping.Yeah, if you’re not apologize for coming off the wrong way and we can move on.
I said this.
Goat Man? I don’t remember that figure when I was a kid. That man is massive. Maybe they meant Beast Man?
There was no attitude. There is no problem with my phrasing. Me apologize? I am not apologizing for anything. You are being a dick and I am not apologizing for that either.
@smitty-81 I am not taking sides but I am not seeing that stuff you see in his comment. Maybe you read it wrong.
Goat Man was not a figure in the 1980s. Back then he was featured only once in the Golden Book “Secret of the Dragon’s Egg" and then released 2014 as MotU Classics figure:
He was also shown a little bit in the Revelation/Revolution cartoon on Netflix.
That Hafthor guy is gigantic but Goat Man? Really? I hope they know what they are doing .
Plot twist: He’s playing New Adventures Skeletor!
Leto?
Why?
The best thing to take out of this is we are definitely getting a new He-Man movie.
Thanks melkor23; did not had any idea about Goat Man 🤣
Leto probably can do it; hoped for SB Cohen though. Feels like the better choice. But like a choice between two good ones already.
@lurker-man He was also in Masters of the Universe revelation.
This is really happening! I am so excited. I have 18 months to get my costume made because you know I am showing up opening night as She-Ra!
It’s that comment right there. That part of your statement suggests a complete disconnect from everything outside of the vintage toy line. Goat man even had a speaking role in Masters of the Universe Revelation. His presence in that show was discussed online. If you were unfamiliar with the character because you just got into the online phantom, that’s fine. But saying, I don’t remember him is totally different than saying.Who is this character.
I do wonder how someone who’s enough of a MOTU fan to bother creating an account to discuss this hobby with other fans on a MOTU specific forum could not, despite being a fairly obscure character, have at least heard of Goat Man at some point in the past 40 years…
I am a TMNT groupie that also liked He-Man toys as a kid. When Turtles of Grayskull came out I started reconnecting with He-Man. Is that good enough for you or you going to decide I am not a real fan?
@brain77 i’ll never say anyone’s not a true fan. I just think your phrasing was a little weird if you didn’t know the character, that’s fine. I definitely lost track of masters of the universe after the 200X cartoon ended. I knew classics was a thing, but I didn’t know where to get it.I couldn’t find them anywhere online.I didn’t know you had to be part of a special club. I didn’t really get back into masters of the universe until a few years ago, when I found out about origins. Yeah, but since then i’ve tried to learn as much as I could about the lore. The classics helped flesh out. I learned about some of the characters I didn’t know about. What was most interesting for me to find out is that Oo-Larr was He-Man’s most recent ancestor not his most distant.
Cool, there’s a ton of great MOTU stuff to catch up while you wait for the movie. Just don’t blink during “Revelation" or you may miss Goatman. 😉
I’m a lifelong fan since I got He-man, Beastman, and Skeletor for Christmas in ’82. I’ve watched the Filmation series more times than I can count and just had my annual watch of the Xmas special last night.
I love the 200x series and I have a soft spot for the ’87 movie despite its shortcomings. I still have my vintage toys (including their mini-comics), I have most of the 200x figures and a handful of Classics and Masterverse figures.
I have watched ‘Revelation’ and ‘Revolution’ more than a dozen times each and enjoy them immensely, I even have respect for the CGI Netflix show despite it’s new take on the theme. I own all the Darkhorse books and Revelation-related comic books. Despite the extravagant cost, I couldn’t resist going all-in on the Kickstarter for the Board game, “Clash For Eternia" which delivered in February last year…no regrets, it’s a fun game. I have a decent collection of the Golden Books(including the one with Goatman). When I read that Goatman had been cast in the upcoming movie, I thought “That’s a very niche character". Never would I have picked him as one of the characters that would appear in the movie.
I left for a while but now I am back. Thanks for being so nice. I watched the Revelation and Revolution shows already and I liked them a lot. The only thing that bothered me is when Skeletor and Evil-Lyn kissed. Skeletor has no lips so it made no sense haha.
Better get used to it. This movie is going to bring new people into the fold.
@caliban I’m kind of dreading it for that reason alone 🤣 We’ll be flooded with newbs and the famous Era Wars from the past years of the Org will heat up again…
Isn’t that a good thing though? Why dread it? The Netflix She-Ra and He-Man shows brought in new fans and old fans that haven’t thought of He-Man since they were a youth. If the movie grows our fan base too it makes new stories and toys more attractive to the companies that make it.
Simply as you pointed out: By being a fairly obscure character. Not despite, but because. I watched Relevation (although only once so far; a Rewatch later is planned) and while I’m sure I must have seen him he did not left an impression enought for me to remember him. And having a villain cast shown of the “big Skeletor gang" excl. Lynn since she already got announced its fair to assume a typo by thinking a staple character like Beast Man was meant instead; which was actually my first though too. I just never had to ask because it was already answered in detail by the time I found the topic. I’ll keep an eye out for him on the planned rewatch of the show.
Why the F ppl suddenly go into a true Scotsman style ballistic MOTU fandom wiener measuring contest in defense of an obscure character like Goat Man is significantly more baffling to me though then his inclusion of the close Skeletor circle. 😛
Very interesting choice for Skeletor, I like the casting of Jared Leto. I think he’s a great actor, I just hope he looks “big" enough in whatever wardrobe they design for him.
Aw come on please knock it off guys. Unless you are a bot here to spam us we are all fans here so let’s be respectful.
Now in regards to the topic at hand there are FOUR MORE CASTING ANNOUNCEMENTS???????????
I am stunned! Has anyone seen Jared Leto lately? Is it possible he has been getting buff like Nick?
Leto is already in pretty good shape for his age. However, I would be very surprised if Skeletor isn’t an entirely CG character in the film due to his bone head alone. That being said, I doubt Leto would go through the same process Nick is going through (being juiced to the gills with steroids) because he’s quite vain and very focused on maintaining his young appearance. Hopping on gear ages you pretty drastically from a visual stand point. Plus he’s 52 years old now so he’d likely need to be taking significantly higher doses. Even with higher doses I would be surprised if he was able to mass up in such a short period of time leading up to filming.
Kojo and Jared are very odd choices for those roles. I suppose Skeletor will be mostly CGI or motion capture. I imagine Goat Man won’t last long enough to make it to the next film. Perhaps, they are saving Beast Man for a sequel.
Okay right now I am stuck on Jared Leto as Skeletor. I don’t know….. I’m really not sure.. I just reaaally?? I have love everyone so far. I will give him a fair shot. I have not always been a fan of all castings in all movies and sometimes I get it wrong and eat crow.
Trap Jaw’s actor Sam C. Wilson I have not seen that I know of will check some of his work out.
Hafthor Bjornsson who is Goat Man?? of all but cool????? Well sure why not?… Maybe not all A list henchmen right away I get it.. I will check him out too.
For Tri-Klops played by Kojo Attah, again someone I am pretty sure I have never seen, (except Wrath of man where he was credited as a different name). Masked S.W.A.T. so why use real name when in a mask full time. I feel uncultured to know so few of the cast.
I am definitely excited for these casting updates. I actually liked Jared Leto as The Joker and I think he will be appropriately creepy as Skeletor. I am interested in Goat-Man, but I hope Beast-Man & Mer-Man are also in the movie.
I actually think Idris Elba would have been a much better choice for Skeletor. He has the right voice and acting gravitas. I’m not sold on Leto at all.
