While promoting her new gig as the holiday spokesperson for the department store retailer Macy’s, actress Alison Brie recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and briefly discussed “Masters of the Universe.”
Alison Brie, who landed the role as Evil-Lyn in the new live-action “Masters of the Universe” movie from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, discussed playing a villian, why she accepted the role in the new film, and her feelings towards the classic 1983 Filmation cartoon series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe“. Here is what Alison had to say:
ON PLAYING A VILLIAN:
“Actors always say that villains have the most fun, and that’s probably true. I’ve played morally compromised people but not a truly deliciously sinister evil villain. I’ve been trying to manifest playing a villain in a superhero movie, and [this is] answering that call for me.”
WHY SHE ACCEPTED THE MOVIE ROLE OF EVIL-LYN
“I read the script and I think it’s really clever. It has a really great take on He-Man, and Nick Galitzine is really talented. Those are the reasons I said yes.”
HER FEELINGS TOWARDS THE 1983 FILMATION SERIES “HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE”
“I definitely remember it being on, and I went back and started watching it again. It’s much funnier than I remember. Evil-Lyn and Skeletor have a contentious relationship.” one that she’s excited to explore onscreen, she says.
Filming for “Masters of the Universe” is reportedly slated to begin this January 2025 with the movie itself scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 5th, 2026.
